Exclamation Alan Lamar - Desoto Central
john varlas of the ca, was asking on twitter, why has memphis not offered this guy

and i am wondering the same thing

247sports is showing offers from

Air Force,Alabama State,Army,Brown,Columbia,Cornell,Fordham,Holy Cross,Lehigh,Louisiana-Monroe,Miami (OH),Navy,Pennsylvania,Southeast Missouri State and Yale

he is listed as 5' 9" and 185 lbs, so he is on the small side but he is tough as nails

in this last marathon game versus olive branch, he played just about every play on offense, defense and special teams

he is smart with a 4.40 GPA and has a 29 score on the ACT
and fast with a 4.33 in the 40

he has already rushed for 1890 yards and 30 touchdowns with 4 more regular season games left

he is rated as a 3-star on 247sports

Two of my kids are in the band to Desoto Central, so I go to most of the home games. Alan is a great athlete, but I'd have to see the measurments and the scale to believe that he is 5'9" 185.

He had nothing on that WR at White Station when DC played them. What is his speed?

He is talented and smart but I've compared him to the backs we are after, they appear to be better to me.

Other than the academies his list of offers should tell you why we have not offered. Offers do not sound like a FBS players

RE: Alan Lamar - Desoto Central
I watched the Navy - Notre Dame game and if we can stop the running attack we should win this game. In addition, their main offensive weapon, the quarterback, got hurt and I haven't heard the status of how serious the injury is. They don't having a passing attack and only threw the ball about 5 times the whole game. One thing for sure is their running backs all weigh about 250 lbs. or more, bigger than Cooper, and can motor pretty good considering their weight. We did stop USF's running game, and basically that helped us shut them down.

THe's Dudes have some kick ass uniforms, I can't tell if they r pink or lavender, but through Tigers should wear them for the old miss game. A gold helmet would really be sweet!

RE: Alan Lamar - Desoto Central
Having seen this kid play... I would believe he he is as the measurements say...I thought he might have been a little bigger than 185.

He has some good speed and is slippery, but I see nothing to suggest his 4.33 fast.... Mitchell at WSHS, quite possibly, but I think Lamar is probably a true 4.5 guy....and that is plenty fast.

From all accounts he is a wonderful kid. I am a little surprised that he has not picked up a little bit better offer. Wonder if he might be a kid that lands at a nice school who misses on a bigger target late, or possibly a Memphis if a new staff comes in and fits their style.

Interesting... I'm also a DCS band parent and a huge tiger fan. My son graduated in 2009 and my daughter is in her third year (junior) in the DCS band. I'm biased but think it's one of the best schools in the area.

Sorry to derail the thread, back to recruiting talk.

If he runs a 4.3 I'd find a spot for him.

I would LOVE to start getting kids out of Bob Jones HS and James Clements. BJHS is a traditional power even though they got bounced early from the playoffs this year. James Clements HS is a new but fast improving school with a ton of kids in their district. The biggie in this area is Madison Academy. I compare MA to a CBHS. Auburn and Alabama get their picks of the best but there are plenty of D1 players at that school every year.

The fastest 'modern' time in the NFL combines is 4.24.
