Weekly Radio Show with Mike Bohn
Points of interest--
*It does look like he kinda favors the Gardens... He talked about
the different theme nights (Beetles, Big O and the Royals, heavy weight fight, etc.).. Having food trucks and discounted drinks, it sounds like basketball tail gate..
He said it is for (1) year,, we will have fun, then we return to the new Shoe.
*Miami people said they would give a right arm for a stadium like yours (great location, right size, great fans).
*Does expect another realignment.. Big 10 has talked about going to 18 teams.. We want to be positioned for the next move.
Anyone else have anything....

Yeah that is all over the place on the Realignment board. Going to be really interesting to see what they do in these ongoing TV negotiations.
I am leaning more content for Fox as they own 51% of the BTN.

Good. Let the B1G poach UNC and Virginia and bring UC and UConn (or USF/UCF) over to the ACC.
Alternate scenario: B1G poaches Kansas and Oklahoma from the B12 and things become a free-for-all as the B12 implodes and several worthy candidates scramble for a space.

In expanding its scholastic footprint, the Big Ten also increased the value of the BTN's New York and D.C. subscribers. According to SNL Kagan data, cable operators pay an estimated "in-market" rate of $1 per sub per month, more than double the $0.44 fees charged outside the conference's home markets. Cablevision alone serves 2.64 million video customers in New York, New Jersey and southwestern Connecticut; with the upgraded fee in place, BTN sees its annual payout from the operator rise to around $31.7 million from $13.9 million.
Just up North,
According to BTN president Mark Silverman, the reconfiguration of other NCAA conferences has only served to heighten Rutgers' impact on the network. "This is a great opportunity for the Big Ten to really become the anchor league conference on the East coast," he said. "When ACC raided Big East a second time, taking Syracuse and Pitt from the old Big East, it really created an opening for us…to become the network fans in the New York metro area gravitate to."
BTN President,
"We're looking west of Nebraska to make sure people can see the kind of games we can offer," said Mr. Silverman, who notes that BTN is carried on Time Warner Cable in Los Angeles. "But we are very happy with our distribution. We think the Big Ten is the one true national conference. Our alums are everywhere. The SEC is just a regional conference in terms of its alums and where they live. We truly have a platform and a fan base that will allow us to be the leading collegiate sports network."

Granted it's open season when a conference decides to expand... but one thing I will say about the Big 10 so far is they have shown an unwillingness to decimate a single conference so far (Indy Penn State as #11, Big 12 Nebraska as #12; Big East Rutgers and ACC Maryland as #'s 13 & 14).
Now, what triggers afterwards from the SEC and ACC has been a different story.
It wouldn't shock me at all to see some kind of combo like UConn and Oklahoma (though they seem to want Okla St to move with them) or UConn and Kansas.
Even though at this point UConn and Oklahoma are problems in terms off AAU membership... we will see.
In any event, it's all just guessing on my part, but I still think as long as there is more money to make, conferences will continue to cash in.

Michigan and OSU administration both mentioned they thought 18-20 was the end point but you need to have viable candidates. If the ACC GOR isnt as strong as people assume I could see it. As market driven as Rutgers/Maryland was there's no way B10 is considering Kansas. Oklahoma strong enough brand that they could overcome not being in major market. I'm surprised GT doesn't get more play as big as Atlanta is plus it's a prestigious academic school.

I think you meant "Beatles", not "Beetles". Truth be told, there are plenty of crawly bugs hanging around the Gardens. I suspect what Bohn referenced was the Beatles visiting the Gardens in 1964.

They don't need them with Rutgers up there.

Thanks Kcat. It's interesting, I didn't notice any other summary on this mention the thing about the Big Ten.

talked about how proud was when Alabama A&M came here and their band preformed at halftime and the fans in the north endzone gave them a standing ovation. He said that gesture meant so much to Alabama A&M that they've discussed having a return trip to Nippert, much to my chagrin. He said they will be converting one women's restroom to a men's restroom
