I would hope they would not fly to Purdue. It's no more than two hours from Champaign. If they fly to Northwestern, getting the players from O'Hare to Evanston might not be worth it.
Speaking of air travel, does anyone knew if/when the DeKalb airport will expand its runway to accommodate bigger planes? There was talk about this a year ago.

S and N, I thought the Illini talk would kind of be squelched after they were curb stomped by a really really bad UNC team

Not sure if they still are travelling that way, but the Air Force football team would sometimes travel to games on an Air Force C-17..."Training Missions"for the pilots and crew...so no taxpayer expense...team would wear flight suits enroute...

The runways can accomadate larger planes. The long runway at DeKalb is longer than any at Midway. It is the ground equipment that is the hold up

The last Northwestern and Illinois game I was at in Evanston, the Illinois team buses had a police escort getting out. They convoy ran stop signs and red lights to get out of town to the expressway.
If you ever been to Wrigley Field on get away days, you will see several State Police cars escort both teams convoys to O'Hare airport.
You would think the President of the United States was going through the Wrigley Field traffic. Again the buses with police cars in front and back running red lights with sirens and light flashing with city cops stopping traffic. A nice perk for a private own company.

The team was given a police escort to the stadium in Boston 2 weeks ago. Apparently traffic was aweful.
