Watching this game. Few observations.
Excellent Attendance on a night when the Texans and the Astros are playing.
Exciting offenses by both teams. Great work by Beaty and Herman during their first year.
Exciting dual threats quarterbacks.
I think we would struggle beating SMU

Obviously you haven't watched our defense the season

I don't know I would call a half empty stadium "excellent attendance"

Announcer said SMU was one of the biggest turnarounds in college football. WTH???? Last time I checked they were 1-4 and lost to James Madison.

Perception is all that matters. They sold whatever they are doing well

Disagree here. They may only win 3-4 games this year but they look MUCH improved. Morris hasn't even really had a chance to bring his own recruits yet.

Let's put it this way ... if we're underdogs at Florida Atlantic, my guess is that we would be the same at SMU.

Query--How many here think we could play UH to 28-49 right now?

Sarkisian was such a bad hire. He just doesn't have the aura or the poise to be the head coach of USC.

Of course, many people questioned the hiring of Pete Carroll back in the day, but Carroll never looked like a disoriented, disheveled frat boy wandering the sidelines. Sarkisian is such an awful fit.

I don't know his personality at all, but maybe USC hired him because he was a "nice guy?" In which case, they should keep him despite results.

I went to the game..my first trip to TDECU Stadium. The crowd was excellent (I would have estimated 30,000)...the student section was packed...the Stadium was outstanding...the suites were awesome and the food and drinks in the suite included an ice cream sundae cart moving around and serving ice cream to anyone who was interested)...we have a LOT of work to do.

I'm beginning to see Sumlin's name floating around some NFL jobs. I wonder if this is his next logical step.

It would be another 73-14, 73-34-type beating.

I asked John Royal over twitter how he thought a hypothetical Rice/UH game would turn out this year. He predicted a 56-21 UH win.
