This Week In Schadenfreude -- Week 6
Reminder as to what qualifies:
- FCS over FBS always
- DII over FCS always
- Vegas spread getting blown out of the water (3+ TDs)
- Unranked over ranked
- At this point, anybody in FBS losing to Georgia State
- G5 over P5 nearly always (yes, even tur'ble P5's)
--- Except when the G5 is ranked or nearly ranked

The PAC is going to eat itself this year. Washington just knocked of U.S.C. handing the Trojans their 2nd loss. Cal and Utah play this week. There will be one undefeated team left in the PAC by Sunday and a lot of tough games left to play.

That's what they get for agreeing to all these Thursday games and late night games. As I have said, the PAC is in the weakest position with the Networks of any of the major conferences.

USC isn't that good. Washington is better than the sportswriter hivemind realizes. UW might snap their 11-game losing streak against the Ducks next Saturday in Seattle.

Update... this didn't take long...

Are you going to make it out for the game? I had Cal as our most likely loss heading into the season, and the way things have played out so far hasn't allayed those fears.

I want to go to a game at Utah some time, but on Saturday I will be in the place where the Bears have not been on New Year's Day in my lifetime.

Should be a high-scoring game. Scoring in the 30s might not be enough. Cal's offense needs to be more consistent in the first half or they'll be in danger of falling too far behind to catch up.

Yep. The MW isn't strong this year (as seen non-conf). Boise needed that. If Washington ends up being a power player in the P12 that can help Boise w/ 1 loss overtake Toledo or AAC team that's undefeated.

But if an AAC team wins out undefeated, they're going -- unless Washington goes undefeated the rest of the way.

Second would be Toledo undefeated -- but they have NIU, CMU, WMU, and BGSU twice. BGSU is about as tough as Memphis with 2 P5 wins (down to wire high-scoring game; Memphis had trick plays to make the diff @BGSU). Chances of Toledo going undefeated are pretty nill.

AAC -- Memphis IMO has the best chance to go undefeated. They'll be in if they are. One of those AAC teams WILL beat Notre Dame. And plus, you got Houston. AAC is the G5 "SEC" this year. They'll need a loss for an undefeated Toledo to go, IMO.

But it would be cool to see a neck-and-neck tossup of who goes and who doesn't at the end of the year.

Memphis has Ole Miss at home in a week. They're a good team so it should be a close game, but it's much harder opponent than anything Toledo has left.

USC isn't that good.

That's not how my buddy, Swag, saw it --

[snicker]He thought USC had the best starting 22... [/snicker]

[decro-sed]Yeah, but they don't have a coach[/end-of-discussion]

I think that Southern Cal has a very talented team.

It may rebound and crush every opponent the rest of the season.

"Seven Win Steve" may be the only reason that it does not.

A number of years ago (back when Ryan Leaf was QB), I went to the Wazou-USC game at USC. The USC radio guys after spoke of a "perfect day", which they defined as USC winning, UCLA and Notre Dame losing.

Then last Saturday was a perfect day.

Clemson won and South Carolina and Georgia lost.

Sounds like a topic for a thread - what is your school's perfect day?
