they really had no choice in this.

so now for LSU- they don't leave Louisiana all October- 2 more games and then a bye.

Anyone know how this will work?

There's a ton of issues that they have to decide quickly. Does USC still get the gate? Do USC fans still get the tickets they paid for? Do LSU season ticket holders have to fork up extra dough to get tickets to this game?

Apparently, tix go on sale to the general ( non-season ticket holding) public at 6 pm.

SC fans are being offered refunds so looks like SC will not get more than the usual visitors allotment. Looks like its being treated as a true LSU home game.

I realize it's a terrible situation in South Carolina at the moment, but boy that's gotta be really frustrating for USC season ticket holders. ECU had something similar happen in 1999 after Hurricane Floyd they had to move a home game against Miami from Greenville to Raleigh. That wasn't the same thing though because that was still basically an ECU home game while this will be going from a home game to a road game on short notice.

Charlotte didn't want 'em.
NASCAR race this weekend, and the Panthers just re-seeded their field and didn't want anybody playing on it.

Quote:Information on refunds/credits for tickets purchased for the contest at Williams-Brice Stadium will be forthcoming.

They are struggling just to get the city infrastructure up as it is, they didn't need the extra burden of 80+k people would add to it. Not to mention diverting SC Highway Patrol, Richland County Sheriff & EMS, USC Police, Columbia Police and Fire resources away from recovery efforts to staff the game.

In addition while the stadium itself wasn't flooded there are areas around it that were. Bluff Rd, the road at the main exit of I77 for the stadium was under water until late yesterday.

I was just about to ask why they couldn't play it at BofA. Thanks.

Yeah I'm confused why you couldn't get Atlanta or maybe one of the 3 triangle schools to do it since all 3 are on the road or inactive this week.

GAST has a home game @2:30 at the Dome. It seems as though only two options were available considering the timeline; either BoA Stadium or Tiger Stadium.

FWIW, back in 2005 LSU had a home game against Arizona State that was moved out to the desert because of the Hurricane Katrina aftermath.

I guess to make things "equal", we need Arizona State to schedule a home-and-home with South Carolina, then move the ASU home game to Columbia, SC.

Way too small, even if you refunded the ticketholders and opened it up to the general public, first-come, first-served. Wonder if ECU was ever an option? They're at BYU, right?

Columbia to Greenville is a good little trip. Unc or nc state would work better but don't know if that was considered

ECU's not really close to South Carolina, it really wouldn't be convenient to most of their fans. I live in Lexington SC, a suburb of Columbia and there is a lot of rebuilding to do. Several roads were damaged so it would be hard to do a game there this close to the storm.

If they wanted to do Atlanta they could have maybe looked at G. Tech's field, however I'm not sure how many South Carolina Alums live in the Atlanta area or would make the trip there.

Point taken re: ECU. In my mind, Columbia is a scooch more east and Greenville is a smidgen more west. With Charlotte out of play, LSU was really the only option this close to gameday.

A quick check of google map shows (average time city-city)
Greenville, NC 4 hours
Raleigh, NC 3.5 hours
Charlotte, NC 2 hours
Atlanta, GA 3 hours

I was at the ECU game in Raleigh. I believe they brought about 35k fans and beat Miami. I believe USC would bring at least that many and there are plenty of locals that might like to see them play.
