Wait until 63! I have a slight bit of pain in my right knee that comes and goes.

Man, Tiger46, can't they give you some heavy-duty pain meds for that PT?

I am getting some pain meds, on my second round now, but not taking them as often as I did the first two weeks after surgery.

Into my third week of PT now. I really did too much over the weekend trying to knock out Christmas shopping with my wife. I was probably walking around for six hours that day. Lot of pain but surprisingly no swelling. Just iced it down when we got home. My wife said I looked like Grandpa McCoy hopping around.

I know some of you won't have any idea who that was.

I have knee problems from an injury in high school and it usually only bothers me when I run or bike to much.

Turning 40 is a *****

JTiger, I had surgery on the same knee back in 88 due to a softball injury. That was a long rehab ordeal but I did get back to playing sports and played softball and basketball until I was 45.

Over time the meniscus was just worn down by wear and tear and arthritis set in where the old surgery was. It just hit me out of nowhere about six months ago with a little discomfort that turned into a lot of pain.

If you think 40 is a **** wait til 60. I have had more crap happen in the last two years...When I look in the D section of my phone half the entries are Dr. somebody.

Ain't 60 a b***h! I'm 63, and I have been to more doctors in the past two years than I have ever been. Nothing too serious yet, but I'm due for a cardiac calcium scan this week and I'm anxious about that.

I sprained my foot for the third time in two years this fall, and I had a trip scheduled to visit my daughter in her new home near D.C. I went on with the trip, but hobbled around D.C. for four days, looking just like Grampa McCoy! I felt like an old lady, but it was just a painful foot. Funny thing, it didn't swell up and actually seemed better when I got home.

This made me laugh - thanks Tiger46.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I have a condition called chondromalacia that in a nutshell means the end of my thigh bone is making crab meat out of the back of my kneecap. When I get up off the floor it sounds like somebody is cutting a head of cabbage.

Dr told me I would eventually need replacement but could probably be a couple of decades if I took care of myself and took glucosamine chondroitin daily. They are horse pills. Huge. But they do help the knee pain when doing day to day stuff like stairs.

Arthur showed up in the knees around age 52 or so, it gets VERY painful and stiff. Doc said to take 2 ALEVE in the morning and 2 in the afternoon until it tears your belly up, then have the knees replaced. Now however I'm getting some stiffness in the fingers and toes...don't think they can be replaced.

I am not looking forward to knee replacement but I know that's where this is headed. Paying for all those years of playing sports. Encouraging my grandsons to play golf.

My Mom who lived with us the last 5 years of her life also used to refer to her aches & pains as old Arthur.

Reminded me of an old Dear Abbey newspaper entry:

Quote:Old Folks Are Worth A Fortune

Old folks are worth a fortune: With silver in their hair, gold in their teeth, stones in their kidneys, lead in their feet and gas in their stomachs.

I have become a lot more social with the passing of the years; some might even call me a frivolous old gal. I'm seeing five gentlemen every day.

As soon as I wake, Will Power helps me get out of bed. Then I go to see John. Then Charley Horse comes along, and when he is here he takes a lot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Arthur Ritis shows up and stays the rest of the day. (He doesn't like to stay in one place very long, so he takes me from joint to joint.) After such a busy day, I'm really tired and glad to go to bed - with Ben Gay. What a life!

P.S. The preacher came to call the other day. He said that at my age, I should be thinking about the hereafter. I told him I do - all the time. No matter where I am - in the parlor, upstairs in the kitchen or down in the basement - I ask myself, "Now, what am I here after?"
