If the B1G wants to expand the BTN in Denver, that would be one sure fire way to force the issue with Denver (and surrounding areas) cable systems.

Denver is D1 all around so no grandfather rule needed.

Doh! Wow, Denver is even in the same conference as NDSU. I must have been thinking of Colorado College, somehow.

Thanks.

So yeah, if BTN wanted to have an argument for being included on basic tiers (with ESPN & ESPN2) in Denver and suburbs, adding Denver hockey would give them a chance.

West of Nebraska: Texas Tech and the entire Pac-12 - weird.

The context of the article is trying to get BTN carriage in markets outside the current B1G footprint -- without adding full members in those markets.

Count me as one here in Baton Rouge. I would rather my .10 go to charity, or to a Wiccan Scholarship Fund or a Mars Colony Fund.

I just don't want my ten cents a month going to the Big Ten.

It's your choice. Don't subscribe to the optional sports tier.

BS. I have to subscribe to the highest DirecTV package to get NFL Sunday Ticket to watch Pittsburgh Steelers games and Extra Innings to watch Pittsburgh Pirates games down here in Baton Rouge.

I want those things, I just don't want the BTN, which I have never watched, ever.

You can subscribe to Choice for $70.99 and still add on NFL Sunday Ticket and MLB Extra Innings.

You do not need to sub to the Highest Package (Premier)

Yeah but you don't count. You have an unusual hatred for any conference period, much less the Big Ten. 04-cheers

That level of programming is required if I want to watch Pittsburgh pro sports. Did you not read my post?

I am being forced to pay for BTN even though I don't want it. Blackmail. Coercion. Extortion.

Just delete it from the required package entirely or give me a choice to delete it individually.

You mean ala carte?

Clearly you know there is no such thing. So that makes your argument moot.

What argument? I am aware of the realities of the extortionary practices of the BTN.

I am bitching about it, not arguing about it. **** ain't right.

Rice, Tulane and Houston is south. North Texas, UTEP and UTSA are building up their research department.

There is no way the Big 10 will get any PAC 12 schools. Colorado State is one to go after for the Denver market.

When you say, "There is no way the Big 10 will get any PAC 12 schools", you must be closely following the PAC 12 Network negotiations and recognizing how little money and exposure the schools are getting. The DirecTV Heisman block to the PAC 12 Network must do wonders for UCLA, USC, California, and Stanford.

The "No way" may not be as strong are you may think.

Yep. If the California 4 ever get to the point of applying I would be shocked if the Big Ten's response isn't "You had me at 'Hello'."

It has nothing to do with BTN, or any other network in the optional sports package that you also don't watch, but aren't complaining about.

It's a bundle, that you choose to subscribe to. You might have a gripe with the bundle model of DTV, but you have nothing for BTN.

Just to clarify, his initial response was to my post about are people really complaining about spending $0.10 per month on the sports tier. He is saying "yes, he is complaining" about it, because he doesn't like it, mostly out of principle. That's all.

Anyone can gripe about anything he/she wants to.

He just doesn't have a legitimate or reasonable gripe.

Oh, the Big Ten wouldn't just say that to the Cal-4. Washington, Oregon, and Colorado...maybe Arizona...big schools with research arms...the majority of the PAC-12 would be instantly accepted, and encouraged, to apply if interested.

No, I just dislike the Big Ten and have for over fifty years.

I can gripe whenever I want. You don't get to say if it is "legitimate or reasonable".

It is my gripe. I own it. I say whether it is reasonable, not you.

People gripe about ND all of the time and they don't care if I think it is legitimate or reasonable.

Oregon actually isn't that strong in research.

Washington is a behemoth. Stanford and UCLA are also top 10. Cal, USC and Arizona are all pretty high. It drops from there.

If Colorado was combined with UC-Denver health center, it would be up with Cal and Arizona.

Of course I can judge your gripe as invalid. People do that all the time.

Your gripe is invalid.

Every time you watch Pittsburgh pro sports, you're voluntarily choosing to donate to the B1G. You can stop any time you want.

No you cannot, sorry. I am the owner of the gripe. I own it. It is mine.

I don't tell you what you can or cannot gripe about.

Want to keep this up indefinitely?
