Good for Toledo if they can get to the Fiesta. But as far as viewership goes, Toledo in the Fiesta would be worse than NIU in the Orange was.

Maybe because we dont have Lynch, and play little more of a defensive brand of football (at least so far) UT isnt as attractive?? But NIU played a HORRRRRIBLE schedule that season and still had college football flipped on its side by going undefeated or losing one game/ whatever they did. Viewership wasnt that bad i dont think either??? Someone should post the ratings because i know the MAC championship that season featured two ranked MAC teams which had tons of viewers for a G5 game.

NIU was also only ranked for 2 or 3 voting weeks prior to the BCS selection. If Toledo happened to run the table, they would have been in the spotlight for over half of the season. We won't be new news to the college football world. Would a game between #15 Toledo and #9 Texas A&M not be worth watching? Toledo having a 16-12 victory over Arkansas on a neutral field, A&M with an OT win over Arkansas also on a neutral site? Both Toledo and TAMU beat Ball State as well.

I loved watching UCF wipe the floor with Baylor. Stranger things have happened. Id hope AAC fans would be cheering their brotherin on. I watch you guys every chance i get. Watching the bearcats take down the canes was freakin priceless.

Toledo just doesn't have a good brand. You're the rockets for gods sake.

But a good enough brand to beat Penn State, Michigan, and Arkansas !!
All on the road... - Actually, the Rockets can lay claim in the FBS to have never lost to any of those three teams... 04-cheers

It's tough when you're 2.5 hours from South Bend to the West, 1 hour from Ann Arbor to the north, 2.5 hours from Columbus to the south, and located in the highest density of D1 schools in the country.

Every team starts somewhere. Rockets football has been respectable for some seasoons in a row now. NIU has been the monkey on our back. They weren't a brand name before 2010 either. Unless you followed Michael Turner back in 03 when they beat a ranked Bama team.

5-0 all time vs. the state of Arkansas. 8-14 all time vs. ranked opponents... Could be a lot worse. Toledo as a history has a lot to be proud of. I wouldnt be on here if they didn't.

My preference is for an AAC team to get the Access Bowl. If all our teams beat up on each other then I hope Toledo gets it. No Boise.

UH: Hawai'i Bowl vs. BSU or Hawai'i Bowl vs. BYU
Memphis: St. Petersburg Bowl vs. MT or Peach Bowl vs. LSU
Navy: Military Bowl vs. Pitt or Military Bowl vs.GT
UC: Birmingham Bowl vs. UK or Miami Beach Bowl vs. WKU

And this is the biggest problem with this conference---other than the access bowl--an excellent 12-1 champion from the AAC is going to play against Western Kentucky in the Acme Starch Bowl--or, if you are really lucky---maybe you get a 6-6 Kentucky in Birmingham. We really need an guaranteed post season bowl destination that is appropriate for a champion. The only way I can see that happening is dumping enough money into the Miami Beach Bowl to make the payout attractive to #3-#5 pick from a P5 conference. You might actually get a ranked opponent every so often. You should at least get an 8+ win P5.
This makes now sense. Dump money to lure a better P5 thus reducing the net to the conference coffers. This would only benefit the P5 opponent/league that would agree to such a deal.

Kroger brand. Most know that that "I" stands for Illinois now. Before their reign of terror on the MAC west and the Orange Bowl season.....people called em Northern Indiana. Some referred to them as the Salluki's also (mascot of SIU).

I saw a map of college football down to the zipcode from facebook like's and NIU owned a good portion of the state.

I couldn't care less what happns in the MAC or the rest of the G4. I suspect a lot of sports fans feel the same way. Look at the MAC board. AAC indivudual school boards get more traffic.

Toledo is more well known to an old crowd. They hsve a kinda northern version of southern miss giant killer reputation going back decades

Most of the states up north don't have electricity yet. Coming soon.

Our UT board is fairly lively, so is NIU's. Csnbbs isn't the hq for lots of MAC programs.

Is anyone else confused as to how on God's green earth Toledo is ranked 24th and even in the discussion for best non P-5? They beat a 2-3 Ark team, 2-2 ISU team, 2-3 Ark State, and 2-3 Ball State. Good on them for being 4-0 but c'mon man....

You got Temple, Memphis, Houston and Navy undefeated with much tougher schedules and ONE team is ranked, and that's in the Coaches Poll.
