Things are looking up at 10C ever since they hired Butch

The reason I posted this originally is because it's a situation that might end up being bad for us. TN can be a legitimate champion contender wth the right coach. Fuente and staff have developed good recruiting ties, particularly in south and Memphis. Stand up guy runs clean program (they desperately need to avoid any more or nightmares). Lastly, it might be the exact right level for a coach like him. They're not good enough to pull a true, proven top three coach. They think they can, but not really. He's what they wanted in the Jones hire originally. Too many ifs to worry about, but don't want any openings that might make sense for both parties.

Do not think you can run a clean program and compete in the SEC. May not be able to do so in any P5 conference.

Wouldn't some UT alums and big time boosters have a problem with hiring a football coach from Memphis no matter how successful he's been?

maybe 10C will hire Bruce Pearl as its next football coach. can't be worse than the last 3 hires.

There is probably some "morals" clause. How far it applies, who knows

If he's hit one, he's probably hit others.

I believe this story has come out now NOT so he would get fired but so he might keep his job. I believe the perception is he's to much of a nice guy. Needs to place the blame for losses on wimpy players.

I remebered our HS bball coach hitting kids on the back of the head or hitting them with a towel as they took a seat on the bench. This was in front of their parents, the school, and anyone else attending the game.

What a long way we have come. Im not condoning hitting and don't think my gym coach was in the right, but we have become way too ***** of a nation

I got 3 licks for forgetting my gym clothes. For some reason my memory improved after that. On the football team they would give us a lick if we missed a hole, two licks if we missed it a second time and 4 if we missed it a third time. One kid transferred late to school and didn't know any of the plays but got the licks anyway.

I think the thought was that if you didn't seriously injure the kid anything goes. Oftentimes the parents didn't even know about this. What kid is going to tell their parents that they got licks because they might get some more at home. Nowadays, it's a little easier to find out and it's not tolerated as much.

This is being reported as coach getting angry with freshman oline and calling over an upperclassman to demonstrate what tough is. He then punched the upperclassman in the gut very hard without the upperclassman having any idea it was coming. Sounds dangerous.

I always thought the Farm Bureau commercial guy looked like Jason Newsted.

And Chet is one of the greatest movies characters in history.

Got locks when report cards came out...I think I was in the 10-12 licks range.....had to break it up to let the heat dissipate, then come back for the rest...LOL! I guess I was kinda hoping Coach would 4get about the rest of them! #NeverDid

2nd day of my senior year was the first whipping where my school even had a witness to watch. Till then the coach could just swing till he got tired. They brought in the ancient math teacher to witness. I got a wild hair and when the first lick hit, I grabbed my back and fell to the floor, screaming "I can't feel my legs!!!"

The look on the coach's face was well worth the extra 3 licks I got.

Then I looked over and the math teacher was taking a nitro pill.

Good times.
