When's the last time a MAC team was ranked this early in the year? I remember Ohio was pretty quickly a few years back but I think they were 5-0?

In 2012 they were ranked weeks 8 & 9.

This is Week 6, in 2012 Ohio broke into the AP25 in Week 8 and were 7-0.

I sat really close to the Toledo section yesterday and enjoyed it. Not.

The earliest I remember a MAC team entering the AP poll was Northern Illinois on September 21, 2003 the day after what was undoubtedly the best single day in MAC
football history.

On Saturday September 20, 2003:

Marshall beat #6 Kansas State 27-20
Toledo beat #9 Pitt 35-31
NIU beat #21 Alabama 19-16
Miami beat a very good (and eventual bowl team) Colorado State 41-21
Bowling Green lost to #5 Ohio State 24-17 in a game that went to the wire

On that Sept 21 poll Northern Illinois entered the AP poll at # 20 having earlier also defeated Maryland that year. They went on to defeat Iowa State the following week. Not making the top 25 but also getting votes in the AP poll that week were:

Toledo (unofficially) #26,
Bowling Green (unofficially) # 31,
Marshall (unofficially) #34
Miami (unofficially) #37.

^^^ Iowa State & Maryland that year, NIU beat.

You should have stopped over and yelled " I am Frozenbaugh"! If they didn't come and take you away it would have been great to meet you. I have to be a little subdued because my SIL is a professor at BSU and my niece is a recent alum. Well, OK, I wasn't the least bit subdued but I always enjoy meeting people from the board. So remember that for future games: Stand, face the crowd and yell "I AM FROZENBAUGH!!!" I'm sure you'll meet many nice people.

Ha Ha....I actually thought about it (not in the yelling, crazy I am Frozenbaugh way). But I thought 'what are the odds there is a MAC boards poster in this crowd'? I envisioned the blank or confused stares.

Toledo site just ran a hx of ranked Rocket teams. 1970 team, in the second year of the streak, was ranked 19th on September 20. Have to believe some of those early 70s Redskin teams were ranked early and maybe the Rothlesberger
teams.
