I've told you guys before. You need to think UAB for your goals. You won't be Houston, UCF, USF, or even Temple. You are the 4th FBS team in a state where 2 FCS startups have a bigger following and the 1 and 2 FBS are around the corner and 45 minutes away. Ga State is a SCHOOL intended to make it convenient for Atlanta professionals to earn graduate degrees. Why do you think 10,000 Metro kids go to Ga Southern for undergrad and another 25,000 who can't go to Southern go to Kennesaw St?

LOL...Kennesaw has such a following that they have no money donors and had to kick their startup back by 2 years. They play in an 8300 seat soccer stadium that does not sell out. How many times in our history have we sold less than 8300 tickets even with Miles' craptastic 2-26 show. You're comparing us to Mercer in Macon? Who cares? They do not even register in Atlanta unless you are alumni (and if you are making it to Macon from Atlanta in 45 minutes you are driving 120 MPH).

Here is the reality, Georgia State is a national research university that keeps getting national awards for access and retention of students. We have close to 10k students living on or around campus. The BOR gave our President, along with UGA's and GT's, a salary raise to over $1M per year so that they can keep the CEOs of their most valued properties in place until they retire. Meanwhile GS's President took a better job at another university within the University System. We have 26k undergrads now and will have 48k undergrads next year. So they go to Southern and Kennesaw because guess what, its a city 6M and we cant take them all! Once the Ted renovation is complete you will see 25k students living downtown.

A sample of our following can be seen in what happened in this city last year when we made the tournament. People lost their ever loving minds and local media celebrities all of a sudden came out as Panthers.

Congrats to GS for doing one thing correctly. You run an offense few can stop. But the reality is that people at the city and state level are moving heaven and earth to hand us a MLB ballpark on a silver platter. The UAB comparisom does not hold water because the BOR isnt trying to stop us. In fact the Chancellor is...you guessed it..a Panther.

So yeah, Miles may have been a mistake but then again once upon a time we sucked at basketball. 04-cheers

This is the whole reason people hate GAST. You just got your a** kicked by liberty, so shut up and sit down. Give you a hint- no one cares about research when talking about football.

But what is weird is... if we do that we het chastised for not being around. Who else is going to defends us on here?

Very inconsistent play at QB, much of which can be attributed to not having a true #1 guy. O Line is not as physical as previous years. We seem slow on the outside (WRs), and too many drops killing drives. Special teams have been anything but special. Defense has been a work in progress. Clearly the loss of our 2 big DL from last year has hurt, and what is there now is young for the most part. LBs are supposed to be good; but yet to see it consistently. DBs...........wow, this is where we have really struggled. I think a lot of it has to do with scheme; but there have been several injuries as well.
Our brite spot........McGuire. Not much else so far. A winning season might be considered over-achieving at this point in time.
In a nutshell, this team has been hard to watch to date! Hope they can turn it around.

Sorry, couldn't find my rose colored glasses this morning. 03-banghead

I'm going to have to watch a game this week because while the losses may or may not be a surprise, the scores definitely have been. Here's hoping the Cajuns can right the ship and keep this momentum going.

I don't understand why Troy fans are hating on the Troy defense??????

The defense has improved leaps and bounds. Way more pressure on the QB's, more sacks and tackles for loss, very few penalties, and the DB's are actually sticking their man and not busting coverage, even against the Power 5 teams we have played. Most of the big plays USA got were because their big WR's just outmanned our DB's... but our DB's were still there to be in position to break the pass up.

Besides, Troy has the #3 defense in the Sun Belt in points per game (29.2), even after our games against NC State and Wisconsin... only App State (13.5) and Georgia Southern (25.0) are allowing fewer points.

Pretty good turnaround for Troy considering we were DEAD LAST nationally in defense last year.

Troy's defense isn't their issue. Against other Group of 5 teams, USA has made some big plays in the air and the ground. We didn't get that big run. Troy's defense did a great job in the 2nd half. Their offense didn't get a lot done. Their defense will keep in a number of games. Troy is getting better.

This is what they don't get lol.....when it comes to sports nobody gives a damn about any of that. Rice trumps them academically 10 times over and still nobody care about them other than baseball. And that's no slight to rice but being a research institute clearly isn't getting you any recruits so I don't see why you even keep mentioning it on sports threads. It's like GT or UNC making an argument about their donations even though Florida State and Clemson generally dominate the ACC. NOBODY CARES.

They didn't bring it up. You did. You know, in that brilliant tap dance through facts and figures designed to paint GaSt as some sort of national bastion of elite education.

A good academic reputation is the one lifeboat still afloat amongst the wreckage caused by your hilarious attempt to field something better than a high school football team.

Seriously... You're a couple more 1-11 years away from ceasing to be known less as a quality basketball school and more as that team in Atlanta that gets embarrassed by everybody.

It's hard for me and every other Eagle, but we really should just ignore them. They still have about 7 of their original 19 die hard fans hanging on to the ATL, Dome, Turner, Research mantra that made them think they would roll a Panther helmet on the field and 50,000 would show up. It's just a shame that Georgia has to have one of it's 4 Research Universities join Savannah State as the laughing stock of college football.

Then why bring it up?

LOL

Just amazing

You do realize that what is bolded is answering another post right? It's really funny to see you guys back on your hilarious agenda after the Ted bidding process announcement. "They suck, they are are in the ghetto, rinse , repeat"

But thanks for your continued obsession with GSU.:D

We have in the last two days hear that our campus is infested with crack whores and panhandlers. That our location prevents both recruits and students from wanting to enroll. And the GS answer is well you lost so you should just sit down and listen to our drivel even if it's not true. Keep it about football even as we thread jack and talk about things other than football and insult you. "Look look theyN mentioned academics! I don't know why!"

But the fact that you're back to being verily concerned does make me laugh and comforts me.

I've told you guys before. You need to think UAB for your goals. You won't be Houston, UCF, USF, or even Temple. Ga State is a SCHOOL intended to make it convenient for Atlanta professionals to earn graduate degrees. Why do you think 10,000 Metro kids go to Ga Southern for undergrad and another 25,000 who can't go to Southern go to Kennesaw St?

I'm sure most of the GAST posters on here are decent enough people. And it's hard not to have some level of respect for anyone who sticks with such an atrocious program (specifically the football program) despite hoards of embarrassing chunks of reality that beg you to abandon ship.

Moving on...
It's entertaining to watch GAST people try to twist and bend reality to cope with being associated with one of the most supreme failures in the history of sports. What I'm really interested in is when they finally do the humane thing and cancel the Georgia State football program... if you can even call it that... are people on this message board going to finally recognize the real GSU as the actual GSU?

These Georgia State people, swimming in their historically unique sea of failure, are now relegated to grasping at Georgia Southern fans hating them as something to be proud of. Sad. No really... guys... it's sad.

GAST is not a better academic institution than GSU. They are a worse campus. They are a joke of an atmosphere. The are a joke of a program. They are a joke of a fanbase. (not as individuals... but as a group) Enjoy the football game with Georgia Southern this year, guys. Good luck only getting blown out by 30... since that is your normal moral-victory thresh-hold

Also good luck with devising a response that steers clear of the "you guys are obsessed with us" cliche. I promise you guys that GAST is only on my radar when I see one of you acting out of your place. Night. :)
