I shudder to think how bad USA would have been without those transfers. We had only 5 returning starters.

Then think about what would have happened to USA and Troy if we were not stabbed in the back. Nations second leading rusher, Jake Ganus, 5 from USA, and all others.

Kentucky was ripe for the picking yesterday. They went into overtime with EKU.

You bring up a good point. A South fan on the Belt board bristled at the idea UAB refugees would be a talent upgrade. I didn't argue the point (even though the depth chart coming out of the summer indicated that).
Admittedly, I hadn't watched them before last night, but wow.

USA is in the 'new program trap' phase. What happens is that many new programs have a period when the classes get really unmatched.
What UAB's injection of new players did was to help us avoid having the collapses seen in years 3-5 of FBS as weve seen at UTSA, ODU, and ... I'd say Ga State but who knows what their problem is...
For USA, it was lucky that someone screwed the pooch. If it had been Idaho, we'd probably have multiple players on our roster.. It was luckier for us that it was UAB. Btw, I took no glee in y'all's demise.
I think you guys would have had a top 20 in the country offense this year. Mid range SEC quality offense. I'm thinking 8-10 wins too.
Many of the UAB refugees would have been a talent upgrade at a P5 school.

Indeed. I don't know whether you've been following, but Jake Ganus is starting at inside linebacker at UGA, Jordan Howard was leading the nation in rushing for Indiana as of yesterday morning. Victor Salako is starting at OT for Oklahoma State. South got a plurality of our refugees, but they are literally sprinkled about the country.

Jordan Howard suffered injury and was held out in second half loss to Ohio State.
