Texas definitely got Kragthorped... Which there is a certain irony in when you stop to think about it.

Everybody would be best served there if they cut-bait on Monday and everybody moved on. That situation is utterly irredeemable. Strong is done, the players are in revolt. Make it quick and as painless as possible. Move on.

I hope Texas sticks to their guns. Strong seems like he is building that program the right way and seems to genuinely care about his players. I hope he gets at least 1 more year.

Seems hard for me to believe considering what we saw Strong do at Ville.

I always thought Strong was an average game day coach at UofL. In fact, I posted it a couple years ago and I still believe to this day that Butch Jones was a better game day coach than Charlie Strong (and I don't think CBJ is a great game day coach).

What made Strong stand out at Louisville was hiring Clint Hurtt. Hurtt brought with him guys he was wining and dining at Miami (namely Teddy Bridgewater, Eli Rodgers and others). Hurtt was one of the guys eventually caught up in the Nevin Shapiro scandal and he ultimately did not make it to Austin with Strong.

But that's part of the "Kragthorped" thing. Kragthorpe did an amazing job at Tulsa, but when he stepped onto the bigger stage, he just was over his head. Texas is one of the biggest stages in the CFB world. He (Strong) may just be in over his head.

I agree. I was never impressed with Strong's ability to coach a game. But on the recruiting side, UL was able to land incredible talent, which made up for a lot of his shortcomings as a coach.

Butch Jones gets heightened scrutiny with Vols reeling

Likewise, he seemed on edge last week when asked about the differences between coaching in the SEC and his previous stops in the Mid-American and Big East conferences.

“The difference is the level of scrutiny,” he said. “Everyone second-guesses everything you do.”

He’s right, of course. But at $3.6 million a year, it’s part of the deal.

For that kind of money strangers can line up outside my bathroom to boo and and critique the way I squeeze the tube of toothpaste.

He got generational money on this contract. BFD if it gets hot in the kitchen. Mix in the millions he made at UC before cashing in and he won't ever need to cook again if he's even been marginally smart
