Group of 5 refers to 5 specific conferences. Independents aren't in any conference let alone a G5 conference

Army falls under the P5 category.

Legit question here...if those two aren't G5 because they aren't in a G5 conference, how can they be considered P5 when they aren't in a P5 conference? Again, legit question. I may have some follow up questions after I hear what I think is the answer.
