Nick Chubb just got ...
... the most meaningless 83 yard TD run in history. Heisman voters, take note, LOL.

I just posed a question predicated on his performance against Bama. Obviously the point is moot now.

That was still in the 3rd quarter. A lesser back would have been 20 carries for 10 yards. He got 146. Alabama's D line just dominated the UGA O line.
The LSU back still hasn't faced a decent defense. Again, lets wait until he does.

Chubb totally looked pedestrian except for 1 run in garbage time. 63 yards in 19 other carries. Sorry but Chubb frankly didn't even look like the best running back on his own team today.
Right now, it's Fournette's race to lose. Totally. Right now, the vote wouldn't be close whatsoever.

Herschel Walker (who was at the game) would have looked mostly pedestrian today. There were no holes.

you take out the 1 run in garbage time- and Chubb like I said wasn't even the best RB on the team.
Chubb 19 carries 63 yards 3.3 YPR
Michael 9 carries 53 yards 5.9 YPR
Do you agree though that it's Fournette's to lose right now?

Award goes to the best player on a top 5 or 10 team almost always now. Winner has to have his team do well.
And Fournette has played really BAD defenses. All his yards vs. EMU should be considered garbage time. He's only played 4 games. Nobody has the "Heisman to lose" after 4 games. Nobody has to be perfect every game either. Ricky Williams had something like 53 yards vs. Kansas St. Its a long season. Heisman hype can go up and down for anyone.

If he continues to put up 200 yard rushing games, it's going to be 2 things- 1- tough to beat LSU, and 2- tough to ignore.
And about Ricky Williams year- if he had a 53 yard game like that- he still had 11 games with over 2200 yards- over 200 yards per game. Chubb isn't even averaging 150 yards per game. So sorry- Chubb/bad game excuse doesn't fly when compared to Williams.
If Fournette continues to have good games- it's going to be awfully tough for ANYONE to pass him. Let's say this. Fournette right now has 866 yards in 4 games. He needs 1134 yards in the last 7 games for 2000. That's 162 per game. Then possible SEC title game where if they make it he'd need only 142 per game with the 8th game. That's why I say it's his to lose. He's far and away the leader right now- with no one really close whatsoever.

Fournette is the man. The SEC is loaded with RB talent, but he is the man.

If he continues to have 200 yard games, of course he will win it, even if LSU slumps a bit. But that is his 7 toughest games coming up. He has to earn it.
And 146 yards is not a bad game except in your delusional imagination. Alabama's first team D was still in there for all of those 146 yards.

RE: Nick Chubb just got ...
The point is though if Chubb has a bad game, he's even further out of the discussion. He's got right now 745 yards thru 5 games. On pace for 1788. Good season- but no where near Heisman level. Fournette is on pace for 2376 yards. Fournette could do like you said about Ricky Williams- have a 53 yard game. He does that he'd still have over 900 yards in 5 games- and still be on pace to finish with over 2000 yards. Also wouldn't say he's got all tough games left. South Carolina, Western Kentucky, and Arkansas still are on the schedule.
And lets say this. Chubb gets what he's on pace for. Fournette would need to get only 132 yards per game the rest of the season to tie- in 1 fewer game.
Also with Chubb- Where before yesterday he was probably #2- he's probably down to #4 now- behind Boykin and Elliott.
Bottom line- Fournette is the only person in the country that can say they control their own destiny with regards to the Heisman. No one else- not Boykin, not Elliott, and not Chubb- can say that.

Not really. How the team does has an influence. What you do on a big stage has an influence. Say LSU goes 8-4 and TCU goes unbeaten and Boykin looks spectacular vs. OU and Baylor in national games. Boykin will probably win. On the other hand, if TCU goes 10-2 and Boykin is spectacular and Fournette (or Chubb) is on an 12-1 SEC champ and does less than they have done so far, they will beat out Boykin.
If, as someone said, ESPN is pumping Fournette, that gives him a big advantage. Publicity is really important.

The 83 yard run was pure garbage time. Nobody on D is trying when the score is 38-3 late.

You don't know anything about Alabama, do you?
The game was still the 3rd quarter. He blew by them once he got the hole. Nobody could catch him.

One minute to go in the 3rd? Garbage time, obviously, if you watched the game.

And like every year an overrated UGA team is starting it's decline. How many times has Georgia started off in the top 25 and not finished there since that year they beat Hawaii?
