How much will it take to get Matt Canada here?

I have never liked Carey and today just solidifed those feelings. His sideline demeanor is embarassing. His decisions have been terrible all year.

This offense has regressed under Cole.

Today was a coaching implosion.

Changes are needed.

Can't wait for the "but look at his record!" posts.

They must have forgotten how to coach, eh.

I would love to see a writer ask the coach at the post game of what he thinks of the play calls.

The look at his record posts are horribly tedious and invalid. If Carey is a good coach because of his record, then Novak was a bad coach because of his. This team continues to underachieve under this staff and now we are underprepared as well.

MF'ing 19 year old kids and refs is just not a good look. Rod definitely does not do well with adversity.

He's going to have to start calling plays if he wants to get off the hot seat.

We were in the same spot last year. Just need to settle in. This defense is going to keep us in every conference game...just have to make some major scheme changes on O. We'll see if they are capable of it.

Of course to say today that Carey is on the hot seat is hyperbole. But with great power comes great responsibility. This isn't the basketball program. The expectation of a head coach is to sustain the level of success...not doing so would put him on the hot seat for sure. To say NIU would never fire him is just as dramatic.

He may not be on the hot seat by these past two weeks are something an AD will take notice of

It makes more interesting reading now! MileHighHuskie I agreed with you when you said in that thread: “Even with the loaded goldmine he inherited, he keeps on winning as we have for years. A bad coach would find a way to screw it all up.” It would seem that Carey and his assistants (other than Neimann) have found a way to screw it all up! Ambrose after that horrible punt and Hare after that one horrible throw (there were so many!) got chewed out by Carey. I wonder what Carey said in the post-game that was mentioned here? I wonder if Carey is as tough on himself and his assistants (other than Neimann) as he was on his players today?

We have won 11 games the last 5 years. We are one of only two teams to do that. At some point we were going to have a 6-7 win season everybody does. Carey is safe so let's stay supporting him. We are NIU of the MAC with a MAC fan base. We are not a SEC school were you get fired after two 7 win seasons.

Yeah, thinking Carey, even if we went like 5- 7 this year, would get fired, is quite funny. No way, no how.

The only reason he would keep his job after going 5-7 is because of financial costs to get rid of him. Not because he is any good.

This team returned much of its offense and has an improved defense. You don't just magically go bad because of the players. This is on the coaching staff.

it doesn't even matter to debate the "is he good" point...because you are correct, the financial implications would never give it a chance if it was considered.
