Who should be UCF's next head coach?
Who would make a great coaching hire?

I'd be happy with any of the following:
Matt Campbell-HC @ Toledo
Rod Carey-HC @ NIU
Dino Babers-HC @ BGSU

Charlie Strong will probably be available.

It's never going to happen. O'Leary won't hang up the headset in a losing season.

But as a fantasy pick... I'd take Luke Fickell Ohio State DC

Campbell isn't leaving for UCF, just FYI.

I will take the job. I love medieval history and I can nickname the triple option: "Cavalry Charge."

Why not? He's only making $300k per year now. UCF could afford to pay 6-7 times that amount.

It would absolutely kill your recruiting if he stayed. Lame duck and kids that have no idea who they'll end up playing for. If GOL knows what's best for UCF...and as AD he should...he is definitely done after this season.

GOL personality and recruiting ability is worst than his coaching

I hear Strong a lot. I don't know why though, he isn't doing well in TX, they can recruit well with their brand, what makes anyone think he would do better at UCF.

I think the prevailing thought is that Strong has deep Florida ties and would recruit well @ UCF. I think Strong would prefer somewhere else, even if he is fired by Texas.

I think UCF would need an "up and comer" type coach that recognizes good coaching talent as well as player talent, that would draw Florida talent to him.

If you look at his overall record at UCF, you'll see that "successful" is a subjective term. Up until 2010 he was a .500 type coach, and many UCF folks think his more recent success was predicated by David Kelly's recruiting success in South Florida...Once that talent processed out through attrition, graduation, or NFL drafts, GOL's "success" has turned sour. But that's just my opinion.

RE: Who should be UCF's next head coach?
O'Leary is a good coach. That much was evident long before he stepped foot on the campus of UCF. His greatest asset is what turns a lot of people off. He's a hard ass. However, most successful coaches are. The man was offered ND. That speaks highly. He also won a Fiesta at said school.
I hope he stays because he gives the conference cachet.
I think Strong was rumored to be the next UCF coach before he went to Louisville, which is why there may be rumors now. I think Strong would probably need to take a CUSA level job if he is fired from Texas. Hell, Petrino had to take Western Kentucky after Arkansas. UCF will have a lot better candidates, just like SMU, Tulsa, and UH did last year.
