Added a 28 yarder in 4th. Also 1-1 on XP. Very nice game. Wish I had him on my fantasy team.

wow - wonder what he did to improve his consistency. He was always a helluva kicker, but this is fantastic.

It seems to me that I remember his accuracy on the longer kicks was always very good

Same here. Any inconsistencies he had were with shorter kicks. In his first game with the Steelers he barely made his first 2 extra points yet has looked perfect in long field goals.

I remember thinking Boswell was the best kicker I'd ever seen around the time he hit 2 walk-off 45 yard game winners at Kansas (the first one didn't count because of a Kansas timeout).

Exactly.
(The same game where he banked IN the first XP off the crossbar!!).

His preseason stint with the Texans didn't pan out, but that was no doubt him pressing instead of relaxing and letting it happen. No matter - he is now SOLID GOLD ! Way to go Chris. We're proud of you.

One day in practice Chris' senior year I was shagging for him as he was kicking them onto the tarp at the north end zone. He ended up kicking from midfield which would be a 60 yard field goal. I was on the tarp in the endzone and he kicked it right into my arms. It would have been good from 70.

Getting national attention (with a Rice mention). He was one of Peter King's special teams players of the week.

Quote:Chris Boswell, kicker, Pittsburgh. Kicking in what has been the most difficult stadium in the league to make long field goals, Boswell continued to show that the Steelers made the right decision in cutting the experienced Josh Scobee and signing the green Boswell last month. Boswell, who went undrafted out of Rice in 2014 and was in Giants camp this summer, was four-for-four on field goals on Sunday—from 47, 48, 51 and 28 yards—as the Steelers surprised Arizona at Heinz Field.

Over the years (my fantasy baseball experience dates back to 1983 at Rice - our league is still referred to as the Fourth Floor League (as in 4th Floor SRC), at one time or another, I have had Jeff Niemann, Phil Humber, David Aardsma, Jose Cruz Jr., Matt Anderson, Anthony Rendon, Brock Holt (and even Paul Janish when he was with the Reds, and Joe Savery on my list of reserve players) on one or the other of my fantasy teams.

Sometimes it works out better than others - LOL

Niemann was one of the big pieces in a pitching staff that won my competitive league one year, and Cingrani managed to contribute to one of my rebuilding-year teams.

However, the best fantasy baseball day of my life was the day of Humber's perfect game.

That league actually uses no-hitters as a category, too.

I almost wish I played fantasy football now, just so I could sign Boswell.

Per reports, Boswell already owns a couple of Steeler records. He made the longest debut FG in Steelers history last week (47 yards, previous record was 46), and yesterday he became the first Steeler kicker to make three field goals of at least 47 yards in one game.

Oops, I forgot Cingrani. Yes, I'm a Rice homer big time.

But I won my AL league the past 2 years, so it doesn't hurt too bad.

More good news from the Boz. 2 of 2 so far today on FGs for the Steelers with 1 XP. Knock on wood, he's still perfect for his pro career. Keep it up, Chris! P'burgh down 3 in the 4Q, so Boz may get a chance to tie or win the game.

Two more field goals in the first half for Boz. This is a big game too for the Steelers against Oakland (probably the first Pittsburgh-Oakland game that means something for both teams since the early 1980's?). There is still a lot of time in the season to worry too much about the playoffs but it's probably a more important game for Pittsburgh than Oakland in the standings (the Steelers lead 21-14 at the half - I don't know why they went for a 2-point conversion on one of their touchdowns?).
