I think there is a lot to criticize in Strong's tenure at Texas so far. But they could go the rest of the season without making a first down and his body of work would remain far superior to our incumbent.

My only point--and we are deep into hypotheticals--is that if UT fires him, Rice could be right place/right time/right price fit for him to try to rehabilitate his career.

He spent four years at Notre Dame so, like Hat and Fred from the AFA, he knows what it's like to evaluate transcripts and test scores as well as game film when recruiting.

RE: Other Games Today
Purdue, who is 1-3 and lost to Marshall, got crushed by VT (who isn't good after losing the starting QB vs. tOSU) and got beat by Bowling Green, is playing #2 Michigan State close.

Purdue down 24-21 with the ball in hand and 2 mins to go in 4Q

I wish a team or two would just go ahead and score 100 when they can. Especially on Texas. man, this was certainly the year for us to have beaten them, and in Austin, no less.

I think he meant our quality of play was "close" to what it always is against a named P5 opponent. 03-banghead

Texas getting curbstomped against Texas Caucasians University. Glad we were so "competitive" against them.

Wow! I have one friend from Iowa who will be very pleased. He also thinks this is the Cubbie's year due to BTTF's prediction.

RE: Other Games Today
For the first time in a few decades, Wisconsin made a really bad hire.

The Big Ten now has Meyer and Harbaugh, and Michigan State has become a consistent winner. Paul Chryst is way out of his depth; Bucky will be a .500 outfit year in, year out soon enough.

NW moves to 5-0 after shutting out Minnesota 27-0

Meanwhile Michigan is up 28-0 over Maryland. Michigan will move to 4-1, which puts them 1 game shy of last seasons win total already. Yet another solid data point that the right coach with the right plan can work wonders.

Baylor vs Tech shootout has started.

7-7 already with 50+ yard TDs from both teams.

Wow, Texas loses 50-7 to #4 TCU.

We lost 17-70 to #5 Baylor.

We are about the same as Texas this year, yet lost to them 28-42.

That was not a very good Texas team we lost to this season. Now 1-4 with Rice their only victory.

I just watched #3 Ole Miss, down 25-0 more than halfway through the 3rd quarter, kick a FG.
