Louisville investigating sexual allegations involving basketball
This just in... 07-coffee3

Louisville investigating new book's damaging sexual allegations involving basketball team
Quote:The University of Louisville is investigating explosive allegations in a new book that claims a basketball staff member paid escorts to dance for and have sex with players and recruits, Yahoo Sports has learned.

The book, “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen,” is being published by IBJ Book Publishing of Indianapolis. The book is written by Louisville resident Katina Powell – the self-described madam who allegedly provided women to the University of Louisville team – and Indianapolis-based journalist Dick Cady.

An advance copy of the book was obtained Friday afternoon by Yahoo Sports.
Nevin Shapiro isn't the only one who provided sex to athletes it seems. I wonder how well this goes over.

Let's see now. Besides their academic prowess, and their status as the worst power conference around, the ACC can now point to Miami (rescued by NCAA incompetence) and Nevin Shapiro, UNC's academic scandal, and now Louisville's house of prostitution. That's a great advertisement for the long term future of the ACC.

And the Big XII is in trouble. Right. 03-lmfao

What the F*CK does not having a championship game mean to the stability of the Big XII, other than the fact that everybody wants to force conferences into a one size fits all box of the perfect conference, which is anything but perfect?

Answer me that.

Answer me that.

It has nothing to do with the stability of the B12. Personally, I think the stability, or lack there of, is tremendously overblown by realignment conspiracy theorists.

Western Kentucky better watch out because the NCAA is going to want to make an example of someone so that this doesn't happen again.

Let's wait till the facts come out please. If not, you UC boys might want to ask your coach what goes on here. He above all others would prolly know. If he tells you to shut up, you might want to listen.

Thanks, Dave. I forgot about Free Shoes U. That makes 1/4 of the ACC.

Not above all others, dude. The players and the hookers probably know it better, whether it's true or not.

I thought Louisville was a serious, big-time program. Isn't this what boosters are for?

At least Louisville doesn't have their co-eds "showing school spirit" like some schools are alleged to do.

I take it you're referring to Tennessee. I remember Peyton getting into a sex scandal while in Knoxville, even though it's largely forgotten now. It was a pretty big deal down here for a while though.

Tennessee isn't the only SEC program to offer willing coeds to their athletes though. It was pretty much standard policy across the south.

I wasn't thinking of any particular school--I'm already a couple of beers into Friday night. But I know I've seen stories of it happening, and of "welcoming committees" that had to be disbanded because girls were being encouraged to entertain the prospective recruits to the point of a happy ending.

The Volunteer Angels, I think they were called, is the one that hit the major media markets at the time. I could be wrong on their name though. My memory is kind of hazy on that.

Expect Pat Forde's follow up article to be a scathing rebuke of Louisville for hiring coaches with checkered histories.
