RE: Hurricane Game Thread
Just home from my two hour postgame drive.

I LOVED that the students charged the field. It brought tears to my eyes. I would have KILLED for a chance to storm the field just once during my years at UC (1984-1988 seasons). My daughters are so lucky.

This is the biggest win in a long time... Let em' celebrate.

Agreed - celebrating is something we all should be doing. The team overcame a LOT of adversity to pull out a convincing win in front of a record crowd and a national tv audience. The sideline reporter seemed very impressed with the atmosphere and excitement there in her postgame interview with Tubs and even asked him about it.

Just got home. Celebrating at the casino post-game. It was awesome. Everyone high giving in the place. Got to celebrate a win like this. Very satisfying

RE: Hurricane Game Thread
Great win last night. Incredible atmosphere.

I was very impressed with how the defensive coaching staff adapted throughout the game. They had an aggressive attacking gameplan. They made some very critical personnel changes as well that really helped out the defense.

I thought Alex Pace played his best game as a Bearcat. He had a dominate performance.
They made the right call in replacing Jenkinson in the middle IMO. He was just too slow and getting blown up pretty badly.
Alex Thomas needs to be on the field more at CB (mentioned this after seeing some practices in the pre-season as well). When he was out there I thought he played well. He brings much better quickness and speed than some others guys there.

Offensively I'm beginning to wonder if UC has 3 future NFL Olineman. Ehringer, Murray and Bond. All of those guys are playing good football, borderline really good football.

I like the rs frosh Gilbert at safety

Their defensive line is only going to get better. Lots and lots of youth. Lose mouhon this year but that's about it. Pace and 50 (not gonna try to spell or rather butcher his name this morning) make big plays.

Thomas has real potential at CB. The more he plays the better he will get.

Listen those two losses hurt. But nothing you can do to change them. You can only move forward and last night was a huge awesome step for this team. Next beat BYU. One game at a time.

It is a huge win.

But it is only one win. (By-the-way, why is it when the Bearcats are losing it is "I didn't see Tuberville out there throwing the interception..." but when they win it's a "Win for Tuberville?" In either case it's a win for the TEAM and the SCHOOL...)

In any case, it's a huge win.

When you're playing a lot of young people on defense you want to see talent and progress as the season goes along. Definitely excited about what I saw last night. They played aggressively and made big plays. If they continue to do this they'll be really tough to beat over the course of the year. And only Mouhon and Payne are seniors. Starting to think TT knows what he's doing.

In my opinion most have blamed TT to this point. Of course it's a team win.

I don't want to take anything away from this win: not from the team and not from the coaches. It was a huge win and I just want to enjoy that for a day before we start dissecting it to decide if this was the "marquee win" that we have been hungering for.

That's fair, but I know that's been a board criticism (TT doesn't have a marquee win). Jim Kelly stated on the post game show last night that this was a marquee win FWIW.

IMO this is a marquee win for the Bearcats. This isn't the Hurricanes of the 80s or 90s, but they still have the national recognition. There are people across the country talking about this win in corners of this country that have never watched the Bearcats played before.

I posted this in another thread, but I feel like it needs to be stated again...The job Tubs has done to recruit for a needed mix of depth and talent has been very good, and will only pay off next year when we'll really only have to replace two key contributors (Silverberry and Payne) and hopefully they won't have to learn ANOTHER defensive scheme.

LDE: Copeland (FR), Wilson (RSSO), Fitz (RSFR)
LDT: Broughton (RSFR), Johnson (JUCO JR)
RDT: Pace (JR), Tongamoa (JUCO JR)
RDE: S. Mouhon (SR), K. Mouhon (RSFR), Brazille (RSFR)

Defensive Line only has ONE player that wasn't recruited by Tubs on the depth chart, and most everyone on there contributing are first year guys

WLB: E. Wilson (RSJR, Transfer from Northwestern in Tub's first year), Brown (SR)
MLB: Jenkinson (FR), Minor (JUCO SO)
SLB: Tyson (JR), Witherspoon (RSFR)

More of the same, only one player here (Kevin Brown) didn't have Tubs involved in their recruitment.

CB: Payne (SR), Thomas (RSFR)
SS: Clements (FR), Jacobs (SO), Jones (RSJR)
FS: Edwards (JR), Gilbert (RSFR)
CB: Coleman (RSJR), Stephens (SO)

Three players here: Payne, Jones, and Coleman, and two are either buried on the chart (Jones) or about to be supplanted (Coleman).

The last two weeks, even with the unfortunate result in Memphis, have given us a TON of positive publicity. If we can take one from BYU in Provo next week in primetime AGAIN, that will do wonders for national perception and recruitment.

It was a very good win for Tuberville and UC. It was on a national stage. I'm looking forward to watching the replay.
