Will be play by the MW vs CUSA this year. Sunbelt is announcing a sporting from Arizona so they be in rotation with CUSA with the MW as the yearly.
With BYU taking one of the MW bowls, this will get the MW 6 bowls this year (if no Access Bowl this year).

Announcement at 10:30am PT.

Streaming now.

One thing right away that was mentioned is that this bowl will be via stream only (at least this year) via Campus Insiders. First ever bowl game to be streamed.

5:30pm MT will be the start time.

This game will be streamed, but not necessarily stream-only, per the press release, which says "the linear television broadcast partner will be announced at a later date."

yeah, just caught that. Glad to hear so it'll be coordinated with a broadcast partner along with them streaming the bowl.

Would like for this bowl to replace the Potato Bowl.

80 bowl teams this year.

Who's going to be the first ever bowl team to get to the post-season with only 4 FBS wins??

well, at this 1/3 point, we already have like 53 teams with at least 3 wins. we only have 27 teams with at least 3 losses.

And now conference play begins (at least for some)

Will CUSA and the MWC even fill their bowls this year? That looks very questionable at this point.

Now all they need is to find 6 eligible teams.

Boise has three wins and six other teams have two wins.

With 12 teams, each playing 8 games each, that's 48 conference wins available. Divide that by 7 and you get 6.85 wins per those seven teams, assuming only those seven teams get the 48 conference wins.

Definitely possible.

If you say Boise goes undefeated from here on out and wins the CFP slot, that takes up 8 of those wins, leaving 40 available for the remaining 6 teams, or an average of 6.67 wins per those six teams.

So you could still even have Boise in a CFP bowl and six more MW teams with at least six wins.

To update from my last post:

- MW has seven teams with at least four wins

- all of those teams have at least three more conference games to get to six overall wins (Nevada and New Mexico have four more conference games)

- So with three conference weeks, that's 18 conference wins available or 2.57 if spread out evenly over the seven teams

Great find. I was trying to find something about the TV network. I actually thought ASN would be involved with this one. It'll be curious to see how they pan out. At least it will be OTA, but granted Sinclair stations are sparse in the MW footprint but it seems they'll be able to have other broadcasters to show the game. The few games by ASN that I have seen have been great.

Could start to be a game changer for ASN, if successful. Perhaps their growth will involve the MW down the road to get some Mtn and Pacific timezone coverage.

Looks like some of the RSNs have been carrying some of the ASN games, so that's another possible outlet for this bowl game in areas where they don't have OTA coverage.

Directv and Dish sports package viewers have been able to see nearly all of the C-USA games carried by ASN. I would think they could get this bowl game on those same outlets.

I could see Altitude or Root Sports getting involved with this one. There's not a lot of great content at the RSN level that time of year, so Sinclair may be able to monetize that.

Personally I was disappointed the Raycom Camellia Bowl wasn't syndicated on Raycom Stations. I would have loved to have seen South Alabama on WAVE 3.
