Wish list for Marshall
Well....the sting of being completely dominated by App State has worn off a little. Here's what I would like to see against Marshall:

1. Bentley comes out with a little confidence. IMHO, he just hasn't looked like he is the leader of this offense. Coaches.....give him some play action and some misdirection plays to use. A few short completions and moving the chains could.do wonders for him.
2. Somehow, get Lawry and the other running backs back into the offense. Were EMU and NSU that much worse than NC State and App State? Is it the offensive line? Or is it play.selection?
3. The defense steps up and plays with an intensity that I did not see during the App State game.
4. No stupid.penalties.......they have killed our momentum lately.

Mostly, I hope the team has decided that they can be much better than what they showed during the App State game......and that includes the coaches and their game plan.

Marshall 42
ODU. 21

But.....a much better overall performance. If not.....it could get really ugly.

We don't drop the ball our of our hand when we are inside the 20 yard line possibly ready to score and the other team picks it up and runs it back for a touchdown.

It may be almost a chicken or egg situation. How can he make the completions w/o confidence, but how can he get the confidence w/o the completions.

Quote:2. Somehow, get Lawry and the other running backs back into the offense. Were EMU and NSU that much worse than NC State and App State? Is it the offensive line? Or is it play.selection?
EMU is allowing almost 400 yds per game on the ground, and a MEAC NSU over 300. They are indeed that much worse. Our O line is young, and right now somewhat slow. Additionally we established the inside handoff as our only rushing play and as such by the time the App coaches viewed the film, they saw that it was the only play they had to stop. We will have to pass vs Marshall, and to get Lawry the ball with play action and passes to him in the flats

Quote:3. The defense steps up and plays with an intensity that I did not see during the App State game.
Make no mistake, App had a good offense, but our defense was on the field way too long

Quote:4. No stupid.penalties.......they have killed our momentum lately.
Well, I don't normally blame refs, but some of those calls were completely bogus in the App game.

uhhh...right

No throws at the receivers feet. No interceptions. Greater pocket protection. Good tackling. Better special teams. A kickoff that goes through the back of the end zone. No missed field goals. No run backs on a punt or kickoff for touchdowns. Lose by less than 15.

Maybe the offense will arrive this week. I see the Defense maintaining #47 a lot better than last time we met. I feel like our defense will also force their QB into mistakes like what's happening to us.

We come out and throw 8 passes in a row. Regardless of the result, we have to convince teams that they have to honor the passing game. Does it really matter whether we are in 3rd and long on a regular basis because of two incomplete passes or two runs for no gain? I want to see us playing to win and not playing to not lose too badly.

Three sacks, an interception, and a good jar of moonshine.

Now that I think about it, one out of three ain't bad.
