Monsoon Games
The following games could be played in tropical low (Invest 99-L), gulf onshore flow (jetstream), and hurricane (Joaquin) fed torrential flooding rain. That assumes they are played at all and they avoid lightning and severe weather bands. The current forecast calls for as much as a foot of rain in a huge swath of the Carolinas along and north of I-26 well into NC, with half a foot of rain throughout most of the mid-Atlantic states.

Pitt @ VT
UofL @ NC State
FIU @ UMASS
Wyoming @ App State
Air Force @ Navy
Boston College @ Duke
#11 FSU @ Wake Forest
Arkansas @ Tennessee
#22 Michigan @ Maryland
#6 Notre Dame @ #12 Clemson

RE: Monsoon Games
Yuck. I remember watching Miami host Akron during weeknight MACtion in 2011 when it poured so much that band members were entertaining themselves by letting their instruments fill up with water. I have to imagine the rain this weekend will be significantly worse than a fall Ohio rainstorm. Never a fun type of game to watch in person, though a slopfest can be interesting from TV.

Oh, you'll be wet for it all.

The North Carolina and Maryland state games would ideally be postponed or cancelled because of the heavy rains and the approaching storm, but three of them are conference games and one is part of the CIC Trophy competition, so that's probably only an option if hurricane force winds are expected at kickoff. Between the weather and the preparations, the crowds will be greatly diminished.

Two years ago in Atlanta when the Heels were at Georgia Tech, it rained over three inches during the game. I wouldn't have felt so miserable if the Heels had won the game.

Whom could ever forget this scary moment !04-jawdrop

Or the excitement of game 3 1989 when a horrific earthquake hit the Bay area that in essence changed everything during the opening minutes. Who knew then the devastation it caused .

Kickoff tomorrow with Temple @ Charlotte 7pm CBSSN. Niners turnover the ball in normal weather, this could get ugly.

Monsoons happen in the Pacific basin, not the Atlantic.

These are hurricane games, not monsoon games.

Good thing WVU is playing in OK Bit; well maybe not, we'll see.

IMO it doesn't matter where they play this game. WVU wins it anywhere this season. We've come up just short in 3 tries against the Sooners so far in Big XII play. But that's about to change.

IMO 70 game cancellations due to the weather seems the more likely possibility.

Navy will be ready for it!

Alabama at Georgia is 100% chance of heavy rain. Its right on the edge of that zone.

Looking like Temple @ Charlotte will be played in a moat tonight...

I think CBSSN has already relabeled the game as "water polo" in the listing.

Obligatory:

Maybe the weather will force us to predominately run the ball instead of, you know, just throwing it to the other team all game.
