Rice-WKU predictions
Okay, we just took an embarrassing beatdown by one of the most physical teams in the country. Are the players as upset as we are about it? How will it affect our play this weekend against one of the best teams in the conference? Who wants to start this thing out?

RE: Rice-WKU predictions
I'll give it a shot.

Our lines perform much better against WKU than they did against Baylor. Their QB will have less time to pick up targets, ours will have more. Our RBs will get more YPC. Our receivers will get more YAC. (all compared to Baylor) Improved Rice offense will keep their offense on the sideline more.

I also think our team bounces back with pride and takes care of business.

Rice 34, WKU 24.

JMHO.

After half time, our offense lines will dominate their D lines, also eat tons of time. Rice WILL score at least 38,

Our strengths..running..will be showcased, and although WKU scores plenty with their potent passing game, the OWLS prevail.

38-31

After enduring all the Parliament sturm und drang after the Baylor game, I'll be there, enjoying a beautiful day at HRS watching my team. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else on an early Fall Saturday afternoon.

Hey, 2013 game against Marshall could be repeated. Happiest bunch of Parliamentarians since the days of Cesar!

I think Neil deGrasse Tyson and emmiesix would agree that this is a pretty poor scientific description of what is actually happening.

At least the weather should be nice. Almost cool enough to wear a fez.

RE: Rice-WKU predictions
ESPn has an article this week asking if the WKU QB is the best one in the country. Great. What a test for our defense. They don't have the WR's, RB's, or linemen Baylor has, but will still be difficult to stop. Hope our defense surprises them. Unlike Baylor, they didn't have 2 weeks to prepare.

The Rice offense should be hard to stop. The run game should get going, and the option should be a big factor again. Hope Stewart can play. DJ could easily have a 300 yard game and Parks should have a monster game. Rice will avoid turnovers for the most part.

WKU misses long FG in final seconds.

Rice 41
WKU 38

I think I would be more scared of WKU throwing it deep in those circumstances than kicking a long FG...

I truly hope we can pull off the upset, and I'd be very surprised if we don't put substantial points on the board, but given our vulnerability to the pass, I just don't see us winning a track meet...

RE: Rice-WKU predictions
On a real note - despite having a great QB, WKU hasn't put up a lot of big scores this year. But we make opposing QBs look good at the moment.

I do think our D-line bounces back and we produce a lot more pressure than we did against Baylor, so I think we let WKU score 48 points if it wasn't for the fact that their run D is atrocious. With that in mind, I think we are actually able to run the ball all day and chew the clock - so WKU only puts up 34 points.

We manage to score a TD when they kick a FG, so Rice wins 38-34.

We take a 38-17 third quarter lead and hang on by a thread (missed 2-point conversion) to win 48-46.
