I've never heard this guy's name connected with ODU FB until the last page or so here, and I don't really give a durn about his opinions.

RE: Do we need a change at QB?
It is often about matchups.
1) In 2011 we had a bona fide 5 - 6 NFL caliber players on our roster. Indeed that may change in two years, but as of today, I am not aware of one on this team.
2) In 2011 we could stop traditional up the middle rushing attacks; holding JMU's DeQuan Scott to 77 yards, UD's Pearce to 21 yards, and even NFL RB Terrance West to 148 yds.
Only NFL RB Jonathan Grimes ran roughshod over us, and that Pro Set that W&M used took advantage of our inability to cover gaps, as Ga Southern further exploited with their TO. To my knowledge, we have nothing but an inside run game this year. Is Lawry any better than NFL RB Terrance West? Is our OLine any better than that Towson one was?
3) We could not stop a dual threat QB in 2011. We don't have a dual threat QB right now.
4) We couldn't tackle very well in the secondary in 2011 nor stop a good passing game, but this years team doesn't have a passing game, and additionally Eric Saylor and NFL caliber Ronnie Cameron would likely put pressure on our QB, further exacerbated by blitzing NFL caliber LB Craig Wilkins
5) Our defense is better now, but in 2011 we had an NFL Oline, so Heinicke would still have had time, and as noted by Everrespect, our defense now is average G5, and Heinicke could and has shredded average G5 defenses. The only real difference between top FCS teams and G5 teams is depth. ODU was a top 10 FCS team in 2011. I seriously doubt we could touch JMU this year, and they are about where we were in 2011.
The 2012 team likely wins, but the 2011 team because of better defensive matchups, beats this team going away.

We have never had a player play in an NFL game, have we? (Cameron?) I would not refer to 5-6 guys being NFL caliber. If your definition is getting try outs in the NFL then we will likely have over a dozen players try out for the NFL on this roster right now. By my understanding, we have one guy that is on an NFL roster (Heinicke) and two guys that hung around the practice squad for awhile. (Morrell, Cameron)
You seem to imply getting looks at the NFL is bon a fide NFL players. If thats the case, we are going to have a ton. We had Vaughan, the long snapper, and maybe 1 to 2 others last year.
In 3 years, do Fox, Ward, Ximenes, Appouh get looks? Coward. Garcia. Fisher. Lawry. Misher. Pascal.....who knows.
My point is based on your criteria of NFL players, then we will certainly have more than 5-6 on this years team.

My point is that in 2015 we don't have 1 offensive lineman that is playing as well Born and Morrell were in 2011. We don't have a LB playing as well as Craig Wilkins. We may have a DLineman playing as well as Cameron, but I really haven't see it.
We don't have a QB playing as well as TH.
This doesn't include the now not even close kicking tandem of Brown and Plisco.
I acknowledged that in two years everything could be different. However I am talking right now.
I was making a matchup comparison as to why I believe that the 2011 team would beat this team, right now, not in two years.

Do we need a change at QB?
I loved Wilkins, but I think TJ Ricks is every bit as good, if not better, as Craig was. Also, we didn't have anyone in the secondary as good as Misher.

We seem to be moving off the old topic of QB and hopefully everyone has already said what they wanted to on that topic over the last week. How about we close this thread and start a new one on ODU football back-in-the-day versus today and who is better.
