SMU's PHILOSOPHY
Cheating is easier and faster. Maybe we'll get caught, but let's take a chance. It's easier.

No ethics and no interest in teaching the right way.

And they hire the perfect loser. Again. Larry Brown. Multi time cheater.

SMU should be thrown out of the AAC for it's pervasive culture of dishonesty, cheating and lack of interest in its students.

The punishments were overly harsh IMO, but proves again that SMU can't win in football, basketball, or hell, even golf recently, without cheating.

Apparently, it's ingrained generationally at that school.

It's why GWB is their spirit animal. Al Gore is probably still mad about those Florida ballots.

SMU should be kicked out for cheating when we can kick Tulane out for sucking.

Cheating is bad, unless you're the New England Patriots who have been caught multiple times with little if any repercussions. Equal treatment of cheaters is another story, see UNC.

With the way the game is rigged, if you are a P5 school and you are not cheating the AD is committing malpractice. First of all, the odds of you getting caught are low, second even if you get caught you either don't get penalized or you more likely than not only get a slap on the wrist. Even if you do get penalized, the inequity in conferences is so great that P5 schools can rebound from sanctions very quickly (ex. Ohio State was penalized a couple years ago, but won the national title last year).

On the other hand, a G5 school takes great risk in deviating from the NCAA rulebook. It will be interesting to see what the ultimate penalty for SMU will be (when you consider appeals, negotiations, etc.) and how quickly the school can rebound from it.

Cheaters prosper for a little while, until we get caught, is their mantra I guess..

That qualifies them for the SEC.

The cheating was done by a secretary we hired from KU. Larry's crime was not knowing about it at first, then not reporting it for a month after it happened.

And cheating at every school he's ever coached at... and not to mention those shady a$$ shinnanigans with Mudiay.

If Mudiay had come we'd be looking at the death penalty. No joke.

RE: SMU's PHILOSOPHY
Meanwhile Kansas, Syracuse, Penn State, UNC, and others skate through life with mere wrist slaps on their way to post-season. Heck, Baylor had a player murdered, gave benefits away, drug problems, a complete loss of control by the staff and never was banned from post-season.

Unless the NCAA had us on some super secret double probation, the punishment seems far beyond what would be considered justified.

I did not think legal action was appropriate in 87, but in this situation, I would fight back.
