No ethics and no interest in teaching the right way.
And they hire the perfect loser. Again. Larry Brown. Multi time cheater.
SMU should be thrown out of the AAC for it's pervasive culture of dishonesty, cheating and lack of interest in its students.
From 1985 to 1988, no Tulane basketball--a blast from the past:
"The program fell victim to one of the biggest scandals of the 1980s in college sports when four players, including star forward "Hot Rod" Williams, were accused of taking money and cocaine to alter the final point spreads of games they played in. Clyde Eads and Jon Johnson were granted immunity to testify against Williams, the alleged ringleader. Although he was indicted, the judge eventually declared a mistrial, and no sentence was handed down. Williams spent the next nine years with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Within days of Williams' indictment, the entire basketball coaching staff and the athletic director resigned. Shortly afterward school president Eamon Kelly disbanded the basketball program."
But that only treats the latest flare-up in a chronic condition. SMU is historically corrupt. Under a rotating cast of coaches, players, boosters and administrators. To treat that issue, there’s one cure:

Tulane is not going anywhere unless the Big 12 comes calling. Get used to it. If ECU was as good as their fans thought they were, you guys would be national champs every year.

Kick the school out of the NCAA.
The Mustangs wouldn’t be missed.
ouch.
What a joke. The SEC schools like Auburn live off cheating. Miami cheated for 10 years. Give me a break. SMU is just trying to be a p5.

Heck, Baylor had a player murdered, gave benefits away, drug problems, a complete loss of control by the staff and never was banned from post-season.
Unless the NCAA had us on some super secret double probation, the punishment seems far beyond what would be considered justified.
I did not think legal action was appropriate in 87, but in this situation, I would fight back.
Baylor did have a postseason ban in 2003-2004, but it was self imposed. The NCAA did not give them an additional postseason ban, but banned them from playing non conference games in 2005-2006.
But, I get your point and I agree. Most Memphis fans will agree. Kansas had a player in 2008 whose high school grades were changed (Darrell Arthur), but nothing was done to them. It was Memphis only who got hit.
