Don't forget, that freshman QB set a Cincinnati record in his first start prior to playing against the 'canes. I take it you didn't watch the Bearcats. And Temple and Memphis both have wins against power programs. So it's not like Cincinnati lost to some nobody. They lost to teams that could beat Miami like a drum.
The rest of your argument is just as weak. It's simply the verbose ramblings of a clueless man looking for some clarity of vision through smokey glass.

How is it weak? You said it's because of the sanctions. Well other schools have been on probation and bounced back.
Then you said the team is young. Well I sent you the depth chart. They're not young.
Then you said they couldn't recruit. I sent you a link that basically said they recruited just fine to be able to beat the teams they are supposed to beat.
So who's argument is really weak here.

RE: takeaways from September
And it took Dana Holgorsen 5 years to get things going in Morgantown.
Today's society is weak, impatient, and antagonistic. When things go wrong, it's always "God's will" or somebody else's fault. People expect instant gratification, and scream bloody murder when they don't get it. They get impatient, throw away a perfectly good person, hoping the next one will do what they didn't allow the first to do.
And fans blame coaches, players, refs, or anybody that's convenient when things don't go their way. Programs recycle incompetent coaches and ADs, thinking they'll succeed, when all evidence is against them. Schools hire rejects like Steve Pederson (who trashed Nebraska before doing the same to Pitt) and Mike Hamilton (who destroyed Tennessee's athletic programs) and expect success.
And all the while, self proclaimed "experts" like yourself are clamoring their perfect solutions, which will only suffice to keep the program languishing in misery.
You're not an "expert". Neither am I. But I figure I'm closer to being one than you, since I've spent my entire life around sports, and discussed it daily with an EXPERT, up until the day my father died. Do you have any similar experience?

Dana I get. They switched conferences. That's a completely different animal, but I bet if they lost to Maryland last week, you might think differently.

Yep. When the Miami head coach is in his fifth year there, he is being paid the big bucks to beat those teams like a drum, not vice versa. If the coaches are still making excuses for not winning after five years, well sheesh, Miami could pay any rando off the street 10 bucks an hour to lose and make excuses.

But that's my point. If somehow you did lose that game, you would be raising HOLY $^%$!!
That's how Miami fans feel now. They lost a game they should have won by 3 TD's

Considering that WVU won that game 45-6, your point is stupid. (10-02-2015 07:58 PM)JRsec Wrote: (10-02-2015 07:54 PM)bitcruncher Wrote: (10-02-2015 07:36 PM)jaminandjachin Wrote: Dana I get. Yes and no. Randy doesn't spell it that way.
It's called a pun, or a play on words.
Another example would be, " I'm so bright my daddy called me sun."

Uh, right. You were referring to the car, not the highway.

I could understand you questioning Baylor's defense but are you seriously questioning how good their offense is?
I'm questioning the Baylor rushing offense. Last year Baylor averaged 215 yards per game. This year it's 380 per game because you have played cupcakes. Also, you are a lot fresher when you are getting 8 or 14 carries per game compared to 17(Chubb) or Fournette(24). A whole lot less wear and tear.
Baylor managed 368 yards on the ground and 5 rushing TD's with an average of 7.1 yards per rush against the cupcakes of Texas Tech. Shock Linwood had 20 carries for 221 yards, 2 TD's and an average of 11.1 yards per carry.

well, Texas Tech was #122 in rushing defense allowed going into today. So yeah, Texas Tech is a cupcake. Only 5 teams worse- Tulsa, SMU, UMass, Idaho, and Eastern Michigan.

One Big Takeaway From September:
WE DON'T NEED POLLS UNTIL MID OCTOBER. FIRST GAMES AND THE RENT-A-KILL GAMES MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND THE MARGINS OF VICTORY IN THOSE ARE SPURIOUS AT BEST!!!

RE: takeaways from September
The thing is, by the time we get to even November 1, it's going to look really close no matter when you started the polls. I mean, there's 15 undefeated teams right now, and all but Iowa were ranked last week- and Iowa will be ranked tomorrow. The P5 1 loss teams- there's 22 of them- will fill out most of the rest. You say look at Michigan St. I say they would be ranked highly no matter when you started the poll, with last years team still in mind and the fact they haven't lost yet this year.

We knew that long before this September. But try telling the pollsters that. I think they're deaf, dumb, and blind.
