Jeff extended Sherm which by itself should have justified firing and water boarding. Unfortunately cowboy Jon does not have the skill set required to see that Bourne is an empty suit. And so it goes.

JB would give Kenny the world if he could, King holds all the power though.
Based on my conversations with Kenny this is just not true.

Wow! I thought/dreamed that KB really was around forever, especially after his daughter signing (even though an unbiased view knows this means nothing but purple color kool aid is always opaque). However those quotes scare the crap out of me.

I wonder how negotiations went given his incredible success here and the football assistants and HCs seeing all time high salaries. I imagine details (aka $$$) will be reported soon enough.

Ultimately he signed his contract through 2019 so that guarantees he is here a few more years. 05-stirthepot

The real question is, how big is the buyout in the contract? That would be the biggest deterrent of him going anywhere else.

“I think it was just an opportunity to ‘reward’ the situation,” Brooks said during an interview in his Convocation Center office. “It really wasn’t an issue that I pressed or [JMU] pressed, it was very casual.”

Brooks’ new deal, which runs through April 24, 2019, adds an additional two years onto a contract that pays him a base salary of $225,340 annually. The 47-year-old’s contract, provided in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, was previously set to expire after the 2016-17 season.

I'd take that $$$ in a heartbeat, but that sounds low for a guy with his success and the way he represents our university.

There is no buyout.

Did I miss it, or was there no mention of a raise...just an extension? If Kenny didn't warrant a raise after the last 2 years, what would? Also, I found it vvery interesting that Kenny knows what's out there moneywise at P5 schools and spoke of it in the interview. I get a bad feeling our time together is running short.

Those quotes are leverage for Kenny. I don't expect him to go anywhere but if a huge opportunity came along you couldn't blame him to leave. He has declined to interview at P5 places in the past though.

And it is a joke that the VP of Finance has final say in these decisions. Restructure that ASAP.

No pay increase.

No pay increase.

I believe he is the highest paid caa coach on the women's side and that is the bizarre logic used to not give him a raise. Of course we can instantly find money to pay new football assistants amounts that seem a bit out of touch with our fcs program.

If it was going to get restructured, it would've happened already. It's clearly not a priority to Alger.

giving alger way too much credit. It has nothing to do with priorities, Alger doesn't even know that restructuring is an option.

RE: Precious Hall out for season
JMU should rip up the 3 year deal, write up a 6 year contract with a nice raise (add a buyout) and then apologize to Kenny for the gross negligence and incompetence that it wasn't done sooner.

What in the hell is going on?

RE: Precious Hall out for season
The Charlottesville Daily Progess is reporting that the UVA womens bball coach is good for at least another year. Apparently her original contract had some automatic extensions built into it so that instead of her five years ending at the end of this season she has two more seasons on her contract. The automatic one year extensions must have been for going to the WNIT two different times??? Why UVA would reward wnit visits is almost as strange as what happens at JMU. With that campus, the ACC and the JPG,, extensions should only come with NCAA appearances.

This is good news for JMU but bad news for poor Kenny.
