Maybe HUD should show his muscles to opponents and tell them they should lose...or else.

He's a mediocre coach who's overrated in the SBC. He's won eight regular season wins and four bowl games in a row. That's an impressive feat, but he's shown no signs that he can improve the program. Recruiting has taken a slide this year and last weeks game and post game comments don't inspire confidence for the future, unless Cajun fans are content with eight wins and a bowl.
Who has whipped your asses 4 straight years...
Who hasnt...We havent been mediocre....I also wouldnt call 2 years ago a whipping...You barely escaped.
New year and new beginning from here on out.

I saw a very similar comment made about Cajun baseball early last season on a Tulane forum. Actually, I saw a similar comment made early last year about Cajun football too.

No signs that he can improve the program?
Our last bowl appearance before Hud was 1970, the year before I enrolled at USL. For the last decade before we Hud showed up, we were lucky to get above .500. He took another guy's players who had gone something like 6-5 the year before and went 9-4 with a bowl victory and then did it again the next year.
Average attendance when Hud joined the program was about 12,000. His first year, the Cajuns lead the nation in year-over-year increase in attendance more than doubling. Season ticket sales have hit records each of the last 4 years.
Hud walked into a facility that was literally right out of the 1970's. Today the Cajuns have one of the finest in the country and it's because of Hud's efforts. The football stadium has now been expanded to 36,900 seating capacity and major pressbox and athletic department facilities are in the fund-raising stage right now.
Yeah, I can see how one can surmise that Hud's failed in his mission.

Three full paragraphs for something you comprehended poorly.
His improvement over the previous regime was great! He is showing no signs that the program's on field capabilities will go beyond 8 regular season wins. He has not failed, he has plateaued. He is not showing he is capable of breaking out. He will leave the program in much better shape in terms of facilities and fan interaction. It's his coaching I question. When do the Cajuns get better?

Hud came to the program and told those in charge that if they would back him, if they would give him the facilites he needed, he would take the program to the next level. The administration said it would back him and told him to get started.
So, working with facilities that had not seen any significant upgrade for decades, Hud did things that no coach before him could accomplish. He has done things for the Cajun football program most of us could only dream about......things I thought were next to impossible.
He's now had his new facility a total of 8 days.
I think I might give him a few more days to prove to us all that he's capable of taking us to the next level.

If he "saw this coming a mile away" why didn't he make plans for dealing with it? I might have made it a reward for a win on Saturday, do all your game week prep in the old facility, dress for the game in the old facility, and then after winning the game go straight into the new facility. But I don't get paid the big bucks either. Probably a host of reasons why that wouldn't work.

That excuse stinks worse than ULL's* performance against App State last year.
*does not have to play Georgia Southern

Hud will never leave as long as he gets his 1M a year. He has upgraded the facilities and brought home 4 bowl wins. So he can't win the big game unless it's in NO, he's the best coach in Cajun history. Quit bitching.

I think we can all agree that none of this ULL losing matters until they face Georgia Southern and lose properly.
They can't even get facility upgrades right. Last I checked, the paint is barely dry on the Eagles' new digs and we still have yet to lose in the Sun Belt #RubbingItIn

Yeah, I don't think that was very smart on Hud's part.
While I can see where time to prep for a game was taken away due to a move, I still don't think you say it publicly.

I think what has surprises me the most is the lack of the normal venom and fire of ULL fans in the defense of their coach.

I'll be honest, if Coach Fritz said the same thing, none of us would be coming to his defense. In fact, we would be the ones pouring jet fuel on that fire.

It would have been better if his comments had been insulated by a win.,almost Sabanesque.Having both shared the head spot at UNA together I'm sure he put himself under a little extra pressure to win that week and slipped at the podium. Many better coaches have done far worse

But, isn't it getting old going to the same bowl four times in a row??? I know we got tired of the Motor City Bowl year after year. I think that is what some posters are asking; Don't you want something that is perceived a bit better than the NO Bowl??

Western Kentucky has some of the nicest facilities that I would say rival most P5 schools. Not all but many. They are doing well. GS has done well with their new stuff. I don't think it happens often but I understand where the coach is coming from and in some cases that may be true, that players get lazy or content with real nice facilities. I don't think that's what happened in this case but I can see where he may think that. He shouldn't say it though.

He opened his mouth and put his foot in it. Not much to defend. Most of us agree it was a bad thing to voice. I don't doubt moving to the new facility during the season was a distraction. It messes up routines, etc. But I still think it was lame to use it as an excuse! Time to move on........................
