If CMU is 3 TDs better than NIU then NIU has no business being in the access bowl.

If CMU is 3 TDs better than NIU, NIU has no business going .500.

NIU utilizing all of its weapons, getting out of the conservative play calling mode, could beat CMU and would have been in the Access bowl discussion before BC. NIU is not good enough though to sacrifice one side of the ball, not many teams would be good enough to do that. Now that NIU has gone down this road, I would be surprised to see the offense productive anymore, its not a flip that can be switched I fear.

Since you are not the first one to bring this up about NIU going to the Access Bowl, I have to ask you and others. Was this really your expectations heading into the season for NIU after getting throttled by Marshall and then having to replace 60% of our offensive line this season? I'm curious if this was their expectation, or more of a hope for this season?

MD, it's time to take a break man. Just try to find a different topic.

Um...what are you talking about? My response was to MD, specific to his claim that he expects CMU to beat NIU by 3 TDs while at the same time complaining that beating BC would have put NIU in the driver's seat for the access bowl.

Fl State had 217total yards offense against BC we had 156. Our talent is NO WAY close to the level of Fl State. 7 is right ,CALM down.

They rushed for their seasonal rushing average of around 230 yards per game (and two of their games were against very weak FCS teams). And you can't really judge our pass D because BC obviously has a completely inept passing game with those two back-ups in. So to me, the jury is still out on our D.

But, if I had to bet, the Monday morning QB's on here will have more to say about our D going forward than they will about our offense.

It took Boston College 63 carries to get those 230 yards. My guess is it took them a lot less carries against FCS schools to get that. 3.65 ypc isn't that good.

Exactly if rushing for 200 yards meant you had a good offense, Navy would be the most prolific offense of all time

RE: Everybody calm the hell down
The one thing this year that really bothers me compared to all the good teams in the past is all the dumb penalties. My view in NIU is that they always play with good fundamentals and poise, but the constant penalties and sloppy play all around on offense have been horrible And can't really remember a team in the past like this(so far, it's still early). When I say past I mean since the Garrett Wolfe days.

That is a fair and real concern. Not sure if the numbers actually back it up...you can see it at OSU, but the other games, makes no sense.

I just don't think you can separate the penalties from the change of pace and uncharacteristic nature this team is playing at. When you are used to playing fast, and then you go into a clock draining/we are afraid to run our offense mode, the timing is going to be off. I don't blame the line for these false starts

Oh my god MD they ran 76 plays against Ohio State and Boston College held the ball for 15 more minutes than NIU did. What are you talking about?

Well of course if you don't get a first down, you are not being to be able to take time off the clock. I am talking about the stopclock from snap to snap. I would guess for the last 2 games you would have to go back to the Coach Novak era to find larger average times between snaps.

It was a great effort by the defense Saturday, AGAIN, no doubt, but you cannot count on week in and week out of having only one side of the ball do all the work for you. I think it finally results in not just a loss this week, but a highly embarrassing one to CMU

Can you say it a couple more times since we didn't get your theme in every other thread?

+ 7 Billion.
