Exactly, which is only 49 mph above the speed limit
He was probably trying to get out of there as fast as possible, since that stretch of Poplar is infested with unmarked white suburbans occupied by smartazz cops trolling for Memphians going 5 miles over. Easy money.
I am probably the only person who got stopped for going too slow there, simply because I was obeying the posted speed limit. Stopped but not ticketed. I made sure the Chief of Police and Mayor heard all about it. I never go to G-town for anything other than work.
Germantown? JUST SAY NO.

Tate appeared in General Sessions Court Monday morning, according to his attorney, Leslie Ballin, and should be released later in the day.
Per the paper, he's already hired him.
Plus not many people are capable of blocking nkemdiche the way he has been playing this year.
With Ballin on the case, he'll start vs USF.
Heck, with Ballin on the case, we may see nkemdiche have to do some jail time.

It's the Gospel truth. There was construction and signs for 30 mph. A cop got on my tail and followed me for a half mile, found a "mature" lady in a sports car, asked if I was "all right." Told him I was just obeying the 30 mph in construction. 10:00 a.m., leaving a law office on my job, an officer of the court, and he had egg all over his face. Yep, gotta love G-town.

You got stopped and not ticketed and then complained?
How has your so called boycott hurt Germantown?
Definitely. I was not breaking the law, and should not have been detained. If I had been breaking the law, I would have gotten a ticket. Officer had zero, nada, NO probable cause to stop me, and found NOTHING to ticket once he did stop me. He thought I was a punk in a sports car.
No way in the world am I just glad to be let go when I am detained unlawfully.
Most Midtowners avoid G-town partly because of their psycho cops. I hear it from people all the time.
How is my boycott hurting G-town? I don't know because I don't go there.

The fact that Ballin has to be retained is not a good thing; my guess it is not a routine matter in Texas.

Rebs hire Ballin's co-counsel in the mary winkler case, Steve Farese.

Leslie Balin handles most of the Tiger athletes cases. Has for years. My only question is does the University pay him a retainer or does he just do it for the publicity?

Out of state attorneys not licensed in TN must retain co-counsel in that state. I'm sure it was "suggested" that said out of state attorney contact Counselor Ballin.

With all due respect, you didn't read my post or didn't understand it. I was not impeding traffic. My reduced speed was 29 mph, in compliance with the construction signs that indicated a 30 mph speed limit.
The officer did not tell me I was impeding traffic. He had no legal reason to stop me, but I do realize an officer always has the discretion to stop someone. And I know officers have discretion to issue citations, courtesy citations and verbal warnings; he did none of that, because I was in total compliance with the law. And I also know an officer can decide not to issue any of those even if you are in violation of the law.
I complained to the Mayor and the Chief of Police because I was detained for 30 minutes during my work day for no legal reason, and time is money to me. The Mayor and Chief of Police both apologized profusely.
Germantown has a harassing speed trap along Poplar. It's well known to Memphians. I have never in 49 years of driving been ticketed in Memphis for any traffic violation.
But thanks for your traffic citations. I am well aware of both of those, having worked in Traffic Court here for 40 years and reporting hundreds of traffic accident trials in Circuit Court. GO TIGERS!

Other than construction, the speed limit on Poplar Ave. is 40mph from the river to collierville. How is that a speed trap? What year was this? B/c in 17 years associated with that particular PD I have seen exactly one officer who wrote a ticket or stop anyone for 1mph over and the judge publicly chastised said officer in court. As he should, b/c it's bull $hit. I have seen officers pull people over for going 10-15 and write the ticket for below that to help them out so their insurance wouldn't skyrocket.
