Week 5: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
Wyoming @ App State: 52-14 Wyoming is 0-4 to start the season, and doesn't seem prepared to win in Boone. I don't see this game being close.
Liberty @ Georgia State: 35-28 Georgia State HAS to win. As a conference, we can't afford to lose to any FCS teams. Please don't prove me wrong.
South Alabama @ Troy: 31-28 It's pretty hard to tell how good Troy is this season, as they have only played two good P-5s and 1 decent FCS. South Alabama is in a similar situation, event though they beat SDSU, and it's hard to tell how good they are. I am going for the home team, and say that Troy is improved.
Idaho @ Arkansas State: 42-17 Idaho had a good showing against GS last week, but I don't think they have enough to outscore Arkansas State. It will be similar to the GS game, and Arkansas State will be a clear winner.
Georgia Southern @ ULM: 24-21 ULM has proven their defense to be one of the best in the Sun Belt, but I don't think their O-Line has what it takes to score heavy against GS. It may very well be a close low scoring game, just like last year.
Louisiana@ LA Tech: 38-35 I don't want to make any unrealistic predictions, but this is clearly a rivalry game, and Louisiana will be ready to fight.
NMSU @ New Mexico: 45-42 Another rivalry game in New Mexico. I don't think NMSU has what it takes to outscore New Mexico. It may very well be a shootout.

I honestly don't think he's that crazy. ULM has a great defense, but their offense is the pits and they lost their #1 WR this week. That could lead to a lot of possessions for us if they cant move the ball. I doubt Fritz stops his QB carousel this week, but if we can find any sort of consistent ball movement it could be a long game for ULM.

I get that we barely beat them the end of last season, but this is a different year and different situation. Will I be disappointed if we only win by a field goal? No. However, I also wont be surprised if we handle business (especially in the 2nd half).

Hey, anything can happen. However, I think we match up well, especially on D, with GS and I don't think GS will score more on us than Alabama. Ceasar is a huge loss, but I don't know how pitiful our O is. They were lights out against Nicholls, had flashes at UGA and stunk up the field at Alabama. Of course, not of that tells you a lot. I do like Garrett Smith at QB though. Ready to see how we stack up in the Belt.

RE: Week 5: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
Wyoming @ App State: Wyoming isn't looking good this year and playing in Boone on Homecoming after App shut down ODU? I expect the crowd to be rocking in a full house on a fall afternoon.
Liberty @ GSU: I hope I'm wrong here, but I don't know if GSU has it in them. Liberty is ranked tenth in the FCS and is 2-2 this season. GSU lost against a bad UNCC team and barely beat a bad NMSU team.
USA @ Troy: I don't know what to think of either team just yet, but I think it really depends on the day. Each time could pull out a win here, in my opinion.
Idaho @ stAte: Idaho had a good showing (for a short while) against Georgia Southern, but I don't foresee that happening here. stAte will dominate the field and get back into the swing of things with this game.
GS @ ULM: This is another toss up for me. I really don't know who will come out on top, either. My gut says GS, just because of their on-field dominance, but ULM has just as much of a chance to pull out of this game with a win, especially since it's home for them.
ULL @ La Tech: I really want ULL to win this, but I don't know if it will happen this time. La Tech has had a decent season so far, winning big once and keeping it close the other three games. ULL seems to be in a lull period right now, but I think they'll pick up the pace soon.
NMSU @ UNM: UNM isn't great, but they're better than NMSU is. That's all it comes down to in this game, in my opinion.

As for my Cajuns.......if the same team shows up that did against Akron, we will get skull drug by over 30 points! If the more inspired team shows up (aka vs Kentucky), we will keep it under the betting lines. A win this Saturday in Ruston would be a fairly big upset at this point. I wouldn't have said that after week 1. Need to turn this ship around ASAP. No more lame excuses!!!!!!!!! 05-mafia

I don't think Idaho gets clobbered in Jonesboro. But our defensive depth issues keep showing up in the 4th quarter and probably kill us again this week. StAte, 38-28. Also:

GS by 14 over ULM
App by 24 over Wyoming
UNM by 17 over NMSU

I haven't seen the other teams enough to make a pick.

RE: Week 5: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
Wyoming @ App St - App wins 38-13
Liberty @ GSU - Georgia State surprises everyone and wins by 17, Moral victory against Oregon shows them they can compete.
USA @ Troy - USA by 10. No other reason than because I think so.
Idaho @ stAte - I'll take Idaho in an upset special. I haven't been impressed with stAte this season in any game they have played. If the Linehan-Epps connection is going I expect Idaho will be able to get it going.
GS @ ULM - Georgia Southerns past 2 games against the 3-3-5 have been their toughest offensively. I expect a close game but i've learned not to be against the Eagles. 21-16 Southern.
ULL @ LA Tech - Tech by 35. Playing at Tech and being handled by Akron at home doesn't bode well.
NMSU @ New Mexico - I'm not familiar enough with either program to post of prognostication but i'll go New Mexico by 17. NMSU can score against lower level defenses but I don't expect that would continue against a middle of the road MWC team.

RE: Week 5: Sunbelt Prediction Thread
I see most of these predictions, but my question to you all is why do you still see Arkansas State as the team they have been in the past? The game against Missouri, while not fluky, is not as impressive as it originally looked. Getting handled by Kentucky (a team ULL hung with) and only winning 9-6 over Connecticut shows that they as a team are down. Other than that, since Knighten has been out the offense has been abismal. Regardless of how Idaho is, they put 20 on Georgia Southern in the first half and held their own on defense. (We've all seen what Southern's offense can actually do.)

Rant over. But the seniority praise and subjective nature of some of these score predictions makes me ask the question.
