This year I think that's a healthy attitude, 2016-17 is really looking like THE year for NIU basketball right now. NIU could have its own version of the Fab 5 this year.

RE: Any basketball streaming this year?
dekalb222 is trying reverse psychology. He's been predicting winning seasons and even MAC tournament success to no avail, so now he's taking the opposite approach.
With this schedule, it's inconceivable that this team can't finally get above .500 regardless of the youth -- which has been an annual excuse since Monty's second year.
Because of financial realities from Springfield to having to pay for a master plan, there is no way SF can find money for a buy out especially after NIU extended his contract. Two wrongs still won't make a right.
dekalb222 may have changed his name, but like a leopard, the spots don't change. He's been Monty's biggest supporter since losing season No. 1 out of four for Monty / No. 6 out of 10 straight for NIU.
In reality, he can't wait to make his same arguments but with a winning record to be able to say "I told you so." When and if Huskie basketball starts winning against a legitimate schedule, I'll say I was wrong and own season tickets again. Until then, let's not lose to Eureka, Indiana University Northwest, Chicago State, Roosevelt or Judson.
Out of curiosity, what's the purpose of NIU's schedule including:
Wed. / Nov. 18 / Vanguard at Cal State Northridge, Northridge, CA Time TBA
Tues. / Nov. 24 / SD School of Mines at South Dakota, Vermillion, SD Time TBA?
Can't imagine we're playing them even as exhibition foes.

These are on the schedule? The 18th and 24th show up as off dates on the schedule Im looking at.

Those are the non-D1 game that the schools that are coming to the NIU tournament get to play as it is an "exempt" tournament. Technically they are part of this tournament but are not played in the Convo in Dekalb

Uni57, what are you talking about? What reverse psychology am I using? Madddawg says it doesn't matter wins or losses, Monty will be back. I said wins and loses do matter. I also Said, I think they will be a decent team come MAC time. Also in the past I felt they would win and compete for MACC. I personally believe that injuries kept their win total down. I still believe that to have been the case. Last year 57, if you don't think only having Bowie for 19 games which he was only healthy for about 15 and not having Highsmith wouldn't have made a huge difference then I don't know what to tell you!

NIU is not playing thos games. CAL St Northride and South Dakota are playing those games. Those games are a part of the NIU tourney, they just aren't being played in Dekalb.

That explanation makes sense, but don't understand then why those games are on the schedule especially if they're not being played at the Convo.
Under men's basketball on the website, if you go to where it says "printable schedule," the following makes sense:
Nov. 13 / South Dakota vs. Wright State / DeKalb, IL
Nov. 14 / Cal State Northridge vs. Wright State / DeKalb, IL
Nov. 15 / Cal State Northridge vs. South Dakota / DeKalb, IL

but those others are illogical:
Nov. 18 / Vanguard at Cal State Nrothridge / Northridge, Calif.
Nov. 24 / SD School of Mines at South Dakota / Vermillion, S.D.
Nov. 24 / Mt. Saint Joseph at Wright State / Dayton, Ohio

so does this mean our Nov. 21 / Eureka game is related and Eureka at some point plays SD School of Mines and Mt. Saint Joseph?

Eureka vs NIU is apart of the tourney but no, eureka is not playing the school of the mines. Eureka is playing at Loyola this year. Two D1 games is good for them and their team. As is playing two power5 teams is good for our football team even though their fans may not like it.

No. 1, comparing NIU playing two power5 teams in football to Eureka playing two D1 games in basketball is simply insane. So in your opinion, the Huskies had no better chance of beating Ohio State or Boston College than Eureka does of coming into the Convo and winning?
No. 2, the point is those "other games" simply need not be listed on NIU's schedule, period.

RE: Any basketball streaming this year?
The comparison is NIU playing up a level is good for them and Eureka playing up a few levels is good for them. Our guys want to play the bigger schools in football and basketball and I am sure the Eureka guys do to. Also, before NIU played Ohio State very few if any people thought they had a chance. Most didn't even think they could cover a 33 pt spread. Insane is the Republican Party but if you think my post was insane, I don't know what to tell you!
