This is a great example of why nobody is making a big deal out of this week's rankings. You think your teams should be ranked? Soon this will all get settled on the field.

The 2 unbeatens in these games should be on upset alert. Both games look like they could go either way.

Not sure what to make of Nebraska or Illinois as possible contenders yet. My intuition says no, but way too early to count them out yet.
I'll obviously be watching the Gophs try to eek something positive out of this game after being eviscerated by injuries in the non-conf season, and of course keeping an eye on Iowa and Wisky.

Minnesota and Northwestern is the game that intrigues me, honestly think it could go either way.

Haven't followed NW at all, so I don't know their intimate situation (how are the O & D performing as of last week, what do injuries look like as of last week). Just know it's the top ranked West team and playing the Gophs at home, this week.
Minnesota of course has a chance. Need offense to continue picking up steam and need the defense to get healthy!

Couple nice games, so far. Both were 3-0 until later in the first half.

So far, it looks like Northwestern is for real. Wisconsin, not so much.

Yeah Minnesota looks primed for a regression year. It would be Kill's first in his last three programs. That's too bad.
The offense just can't do anything.

Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin lose, Illinois, Northwestern and Iowa win.
Interesting start to the division race.

As I said in a different thread, what if Northwestern beats Michigan next week and goes through the rest of their conference schedule undefeated? CFP?
What if Iowa only loses to Northwestern and ends up going 11-1? Are they then in the same boat as everyone has attributed to Michigan State? Michigan could then end up beating both MSU and OSU and that throws everything in a tailspin. Iowa would have to play Northwestern close in that defeat but it's possible considering how many other conferences are cannibalizing themselves. We had some big losses this weekend.

RE: B1G West Showdown, Part I - Oct 3rd
If Northwestern beats every team in the regular season and wins the CCG, it will rightfully be in the CFP.
Michigan gets NW and then Mich St back-to-back in Ann Arbor. Winning both those games would set-up a defacto CFP "Round of 16" game vs. Ohio St, as that would likely be the B1G East championship with the winner facing NW in Indy.
But the West is far from won, yet. Next weekend Illinois goes to Iowa, so we'll see which of those is for real. And Nebraska gets one last chance, as it hosts Wisconsin.
Minnesota goes to Purdue, which was a one point win last year in Minneapolis and they just played Mich St pretty tough. I'd like to see the freshman QB start the rest of the year. See what the kid can do. We all know what Leidner can and can not do.
