It's a pretty unfair assessment @20 if we are being honest. I think we'd beat any of the first 5 ahead of us up there at this point.

Temple plays terrible football for 56 minutes against East Carolina and jumps a spot? Yes, Toledo played like garbage in the first half. But 38 unanswered points coming out of halftime is nothing to scoff at, no matter the team or record.

We played a terrible half and will scored 50. Don't see Houston's win as any more impressive, yet they jump us. Definitely is an anti-mac bias, but it is what it is. Wait until next week after an off week.

I would agree if that were applied evenly.

Their win was more convincing but ours was against a better opponent. UCF can't even beat an fcs. But it's whatever. Media is all over the American right now and they deserve a lot of it

If your looking at the top 20, how much time do you spend on the details of the wins/loses? I wouldn't expect polsters to do much either. Besides, is there really a comparison between E. Carolina and Mass? I would disagree that 38 against that open secondary is anything to hang a hat on.
If there is a MAC bias, it has been earned and would then hardly qualify as a bias. Temple's conference match-ups will sort out Temple. Our problem is Houston I think and the closest we have to a statement game is BGSU as they've gone out and played as diverse a schedule as we have including an important comparison point against Memphis.

If Toledo played an AAC schedule week in and out, I'm not sure that they would be undefeated. I know you can only play who is on your schedule but playing MAC schools in front 10-15k isn't exactly a tall order.

And we're not sure if Houston played in the MAC they would be undefeated. Great insight. Thanks.

So far Houston's mighty strength of schedule is 87th, compared to UT's 92nd. I fail to see the difference. Maybe UT should tape the jerseys of conference bottom feeders to locker room floor, just like Houston needs to do to motivate players.

That's a good point but for good or bad though, their teams have come through whereas ours have had near misses. They should have preference in ranking. If BG gets that win against Memphis and Central that win at Syracuse, NIU picks up BC or OSU.... then I don't think we don't get passed by Duke after a bad half.

Houston and Memphis haven't even played the tough AAC schedule! Just like we haven't played our toughest conference teams. Don't talk about the conference strength, when most teams haven't intertwined enough to even show who is good and who isn't. You can see talent, but who knows.... what if Temple kills everyone. What if Houston is winning, like Toledo, because they've played nobody's and one tough OOC opponent.
So much left to be played. I want to see how Navy, Memphis, Temple, Houston, and ECU do in their AAC conference schedule before we have to play it!

Arkansas and Louisville played some tough teams close but I'd take our Ark win over their Louisville win. Memphis still has that Ole Miss win, probably the best of the two conferences. As for making it through the others' conference? Top ends seem like they'd be a fun match-up but is their bottom end really as bad as MAC?

EMU ans UMass put up points OOC and grabbed some wins. We have no FCS losses this season, and Miami our worst team lost by 4 to a decent Cincy team. Its our 5th deep through 10th where they are better. Outside of UT and BG they will argue our conference is bad. I think WMU, CMU and NIU would hang with their UC, ECU, TEMPLE, NAVY. WMU's loss to Georgia Southern really hurts that argument tho.

I think so too, more than hang. MAC would get their fair share of wins.
WMU I think had a close game at MSU? Close unfortunately, I imagine isn't remembered when poll voters are making their votes.

MSU won by 13 in Kalamazoo but had all the points they needed midway through the second quarter. Still, IIRC, MSU was ranked second or third at the time.

and that is because they play ND this weekend.
