These are my team ratings, not my performance ratings. App gets the top spot outright for tonight's performance if I was ranking it like that.

ULM scares me next week. We come back from from Idaho to go to Monroe. ULM may have the best defense in the Belt.

RE: Week 4 Power Ratings
1. Georgia Southern - maybe not the most impressive this week, bust best overall for the year.
2. App State - ODU is bad, but still a very good showing.
3. StAte - tough outing in a tough place to play with a noob QB.
4. ULM
5. South Alabama - at least they have a non-conference win
6. Troy
7. UL
8. Texas State
9. Georgia State
10. Idaho
11. NMSU

Lol you would

Just my unbiased opinion right now. I'm watching a lot more teams than I would be if UAB was playing :(. Sunbelt's hard to gauge in general though.

There's quite a few teams who have either only played FCS or only played better P5 teams so you easily predict how it will go when playing a team near their talent level. Troy, ULM, etc are kind of mysteries right now on where they will end up.

edit: though I probably ranked ULL 2 spots too high.

Alabama picked on one of our defensive backs three plays in a row and all three times he broke up the play. They never went back to his side again the rest of the game. Georgia Southern is probably close to being as fast as Bama on the outside so this should be a good game (if our offense shows up).

Apps defense again played lights out, only gave up 6 first downs thru 3 quarters, and around 150 total yds for the game. Team played with a real chip on their shoulders, played angry. Long way to go, but so far, so good.

Both Appy and Southern have had tough losses to what seems to be top25 caliber teams. Appy was more competitive against theirs. I think WMU is a much better team then ODU but going on the road and shutting them out is a big statement by Appy. They scare me.

Yes South Alabama had a ugly loss today but no one here can claim a P5 win this year. This is the same team that went on the road and brought back a W against a solid MWC team. Next week will set the year for USA.

Ark St has shown glimpses of what they can do. Unfortunately for them their first 4 games turned out to be a tough schedule. Dismissing the 2 P5 losses, Toledo is arguably the best G5 team this year. They should rebound next week against Idaho to set up a potential big match up against USA.

ULM I believe is the dark horse. They arguably had the toughest first 3 weeks in terms of schedules in the conference. Their Def is good. Next week will be the real test. I see this game lasting down to the last minutes.

TXST in my opinion has some coaching issues. That said I believe Southern Miss is a much improved team compared to years past and Houston should see the top 25 sometime this year. Bye week sets up for a key test on the road. ULL may be in prime form for TXST to get their first W against the Cajuns.

ULL I thought started off strong. Played a close game to what seems like a stout UK team. But after today idk what to think. Hopefully it was a fluke but I was expecting more for a home game. ULL is in real danger of starting of 1-3.

TROY has shown glimpses of a break through year. I have them this low because they havent had a game to prove themselves. Can Brown turn it around in his first year?

IDAHO has depth issues. Add that with the travel issues... and its going to be a long year for the Vandals. I think they will have more than 2 wins this year but idk against who.

Georgia St has without a doubt improved since last year. They have to protect the Belt this coming up week. We cannot afford a loss to a FCS team.

NMST has had a rough start. Heart breaking loss last week. Maybe they can pull of the instate rivalry this coming up week.

Season Rankings:

1. Georgia Southern
2. App. St.
3. USA
4. Ark. St., Georgia St., Idaho, Louisiana, ULM, Texas St. & Troy
11. NMSU

The top 3 have OOC FBS wins. NMSU has no wins. I don't see how the other 6 teams have done anything at all to differentiate themselves from each other. We'll start figuring it out next week.

Woah woah woah, Ga South is the clear leader of this conference, especially being defending champs.

We just always play good in inclement weather is all.

No, no, no. App is clearly the leader at this point. Definitively the favorite to win the conference.

Idaho had some calls not go their way, making all the difference.

Horrible coaching today in the first half. Ellison is so good, though. The Upshaw experiment has to end.

It's hard to argue otherwise though. As a conference, we have precious few OOC wins. Today's win is our (App State) first OOC win versus another FBS team. What can you point to say the SBC isn't the weakest?

App has beaten Howard 03-zzz and ODU so we start giving out the best team award for that?

Seriously, can we wait until conference play is in full swing first?

(I'm not touting TXST cause, well, you know why and if they don't clobber Wyoming it would be shocking but, still, let's wait)

Someone is reading more than is written... Put away your jump to conclusion mat.

Missing the point of my post. My post didn't say the SBC wasn't. Geez guys read what is written.

I look forward to the day when Appalachian, as a program, plays well and the subsequent concensus is "wow, they have a good team" rather than "wow, the team they played must really suck."

Even if a team isn't bowl bound, when you walk into their house score half a hundred in the first 40 minutes and shut them out and hold them to 175 yards that is a solid G5 win.

FPI has App at #60 going 10-2 and having a 60% chance to win the conference. They are the #1 team that we are all chasing, no doubt about it whatsoever. Class of the league, they will destroy us in 4 weeks.

I'm shocked at the number of people putting A-State in #4. I can only assume they did not watch the game.

When everyone else played like D-II teams, your game vs Missouri truly helps you. The SBC is performing so bad right now, you can be really bad and still be better than most right now. Coastal would beat most of us by two TDs, and that's not a knock on Coastal, we are really, really bad right now.
