Week 4 Power Ratings
Power Ratings

T1. Appalachian State
T1. Georgia Southern
T3. Everyone Else

Power Ratings Broken Down Further

T1. Appalachian State
T1. Georgia Southern
3. Arkansas State
4. Louisiana
T5. Troy
T5. Louisiana Monroe
7. Idaho
8. Texas State
T9. South Alabama
T9. Georgia State
T9. New Mexico State

This was very hard to rank. No one knows if Louisiana is really all that good. ULM played well defensively today. Troy and Georgia State had bye weeks. South got crushed. Arkansas State, Texas State, and Louisiana had embarrassing losses. Idaho scares me but was Georgia Southern playing their A-Game? Appalachian State has two weeks this year where they can say they were the only team that did what they were supposed to do. I have no idea if Troy is going to be any good, but there are reasons for optimism. We'll know more next week against South. Only two teams really look dominant. The rest appears to be a crap shoot.

Definitely would not put GS and App as tied. App was the clear front runner this week.

I agree with that. We struggled a little with Idaho but in the end it was still 44-20. App State easily the most impressive this weekend. Disappointed that Louisiana and Arkansas St couldn't win this week. Hate losing to the MAC. Wish USA and TXST could've kept it a little closer as well.

I would bump Idaho down a spot and I would put App as the clear leader of the conference.

Everything else I can agree with

Woah woah woah, Ga South is the clear leader of this conference, especially being defending champs.

We just always play good in inclement weather is all.

Hard to say at this point. We will all find out who's the true #1 on October 22. Can't wait.

that was the 6th longest road trip for college football this season. we did the same against nmsu last year.

with that said....

ODU sucks and App State is good. I'm not surprised by that game at all.

IMO the conference championship game will be in Boone on Oct 22. App will roll stAte and and ULL at home.

RE: Week 4 Power Ratings
I don't think we've seen our best game yet. We definitely were a little "off" with the long road trip, even though we were moving at a clip of 8.5 ypp. We just never seemed to settle into a rhythm like we did last year. Credit to Idaho for clogging the middle and causing us some difficulty until we decided to use our speed and athleticism on the perimeter like we should have all game.

As for App, I couldn't see what they did but on the surface it's really impressive. I think they face the same issue we do though, that they haven't been up against a team that is on their level to see how good they really are. We both had games where we laid eggs, although there were positives. We both had a way overmatch FCS opponent and an overmatched G5 opponent. We'll know more as we get deeper into conference play and definitely when we meet in Boone.

I think it would be fair to say it's us and App at the top right now.

Not even gonna try to rank any of the hot garbage this week.

RE: Week 4 Power Ratings
Alabama had been averaging 512 yards a game...including playing two ranked teams...so far this season but ULM held them to only 303 total yards today. Unfortunately the Tide defense was playing lights out and came after us. Our QB rarely had a chance to set his feet to throw the ball plus we lost our top receiver, Rashon Ceaser, to an injury while another starting receiver was on the sidelines because of a practice injury earlier in the week.

Defensively we're more than good enough for the Sun Belt but we still don't have any idea of what the offense is capable of though we like our quarterback. After playing two top 15 teams and a bottom-rung FCS team we're finally going to play the "real" part of our schedule.

App has beaten Howard 03-zzz and ODU so we start giving out the best team award for that?

Seriously, can we wait until conference play is in full swing first?

(I'm not touting TXST cause, well, you know why and if they don't clobber Wyoming it would be shocking but, still, let's wait)

after having to travel to idaho this weekend, I am worried about your defense.
