ECU wins 5th straight over ACC. Any other G5 ever won 5 in a row over P5 conference?
Maybe Boise St. over PAC?
Either way it feels good to know that we've beaten VT 2x in a row, NCSU 2x in a row & UNC 2x in a row. 2 of those wins were over ranked teams and a third was against a team that finished the season ranked. We are always fighting to be the best football team in our region and it's important to keep this trend going even during this 'rebuilding' year.

Almost positive that the 5 consecutive against a P5 conference is unprecedented.
NDSU is not G5 but they have won 5 consecutive over FBS competition (from different conferences though, including both P5 & G5 teams) which is also very impressive.

its a tricky question because terms like P5 and G5 are only a couple years old. also it is a very narrow question.

Watched the entire game. ECU's QB gave them a nice jolt of offense running the ball. Good call putting him into
the game, especially with rain falling 100% of the game.

The way I look at it is 1998 era to present (BCS/P5 conferences).
"It's a rivalry, even if some people don't want to admit it," said Tech fan John Schneider, who writes for the SB Nation VT site Gobbler Country. "There's no ill feelings, and ECU is a great measuring stick game. They're no cupcake. You have to be ready to play them."
Joe Lanza, who runs the popular Virginia Tech site The Key Play, agrees: "I don't think our fans hate East Carolina fans. ECU isn't a team that I root against. I'll root for them to pull an upset if they're not playing Virginia Tech, just because their program is similar to Tech in a bunch of different ways."
Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer shares that respect. In his press conference last week, Beamer said, "They're a quality program. I think we're close enough to them that they bring people here, we take people there, so that part is good."

98-99 Marshall took down South Carolina, Louisville, Clemson, Temple, and BYU.
Temple was still big East but Louisville was CUSA and BYU was WAC'ing around. Close but not quite.

I think OP was asking if any G5 or non-AQ team had ever won 5 consecutive games against one specific 'Power' conference. After some research it looks like this is now a tied record between ECU & Boise St. for this category. Boise beat 5 consecutive PAC teams from 2008-2013 I believe. Unless we play an ACC team in a bowl game this year, ECU will have a chance to break the tie when NCSU comes to Greenville on 9/10 of next season. ECU also plays @VT on 9/24/16.

I agree, his time has passed and quite honestly I hope for his sake he decides to retire instead of forcing VT to make the call.

Right you are.
Boise won in 2008 and 2009 over Oregon, 2010 over Oregon St, 2011 over Arizona St, and 2012 over Washington. That 5-win streak was snapped in 2013 when Boise lost to Washington and Oregon St.

Beamer:"They’re exhibition games, they’re preseason games. Now it’s on to conference games. Now it’s down to being really important”
