I prefer we don't use him at all. I've never felt like he ran our offense very well, including last year. I keep hearing about his speed but if he doesn't use it what good is it.

Agree with that. Ellison plays faster than Upshaw.

Ellison makes better reads before and during the play and has more confidence behind center. Confidence comes in handy when the play quickly breaks down. Vegas has the physical abilities and confidence to keep the ball and eek out a few yards on his own rather than rely so heavily on the pitch when it's not there. Seems too often the play is busted due to a bad call by Ruse. Upshaw = great student but not so great under pressure.

I'll admit I bought into the Upshaw hype before the WVU game, but I've lost all confidence in his ability to run the offense.

Sure he's fast, but speed does nothing when you fall over after the slightest contact. If we're hellbent on using a different qb every third series, I'd rather that be Vegas. Move Upshaw to receiver where he can utilize his speed.

Upshaw may be fine. After Edwards left, Deandre Pressley was great against equal level competition, but when we he went against higher level FBS competition, he looked like a deer in headlights. Perhaps Upshaw won't do well against the WVU's and UGA's on your schedule, but he'll be good in the SunBelt, probably. Probably not what you want to hear. He won't be Ellison, but he'll be above average more than likely.

Also, I know this thread was started somewhat in jest, but an article in Underdog Dynasty said that this conference was beginning to look like a two horse race already. Game in Boone is looking like a must win for App if they want to win the SunBelt. I don't see GaSo losing more than 1 game in the SunBelt outside of App, so a loss to GaSo would likely eliminate App.

I know ULL and stAte are having down years this year...but I honestly didn't expect in year 2 week 4 that most would be declaring a two horse race between the new kids on the block.

If there's two programs with a whole heap of momentum it's us two. This is truly just a beginning for our programs. We will get better, we will get deeper, we will grow in every phase possible.

Really excited to see what the 2025 game will be like...hopefully a field littered with 3 stars and peppered with 4's in front of 40k+ on ESPN.

Oh yeah....App can suck it 02-13-banana02-13-banana

He needs the reps, remember last year we had to pull out the ULM game with a very capable #3 in Youtube, Upshaw will be needed again before the season is over, he's already working on breaking tendencies. And as far as the App/GS match-up lets both work on getting there with no surprises first, then let the bare knuckle fist fight begin.

RE: Their WILL be a SBC football championship game...
Put Upshaw at receiver. You guys run too many passing plays in this years version of your offense to only have one true receiver on the field. I'd also like to see Breida motioned out into the slot when you're running a pistol set. This changes from a near obvious option play, with only two real targets for the QB to having four. Seem's more like a traditional spread but this is what I've seen from how you are operating this season. Also, if you catch the defense in a man situation with safeties coming down preparing for the run, no one in the conference will keep pace with Breida or Upshaw.

Vegas will get his reps as the season goes along, but there is a reason Upshaw is #2 and Vegas #3, Upshaw is further along in his development, but as history has proven we may need all three before the fat lady sings. Sure is nice having the discussion who is #2 instead of who is #1...
