The only problem is that JMU, along with Delaware, just recently came out saying that they would not be paying full cost of attendance scholarships. Crazy thing is, their budget is over 40 million dollars, which would be at or near the top of C-USA. Maybe that would change is they had an FBS conference invite. I know that they courted the Sun Belt hard.

Exactly. They could easily have an FBS - level program and compete with the best of 'em, but I guess they just don't want that type of a situation. To each their own. There's definitely demand in FCS world.

Yes, but I am still very surprised about their decision not to offer COA. In all of their other sports, they are at the top level. That puts them at a recruiting disadvantage to all of the FBS conferences and FCS programs that offer COA. For a strong FCS program like JMU in a strong FCS conference is puzzling. They do not seem to lack resources.

Congratulations to James Madison. You cannot curse its football success with its administration's lack if FBS vision. They played great tonight, and won the game, on the road, in the late 4th quarter. If only Bourne and Alger had the cojones that Lee and Withers had this evening, you would see a new CUSA member that has the fanbase, facilities, and team to compete at the next level.

Well done JMU!

They also have a pretty good QB transfer this year.

+1. Maybe they will be the Alabama of the FCS level... expanding the stadium to 50,000. LOL

Who cares... yes, the American has two weak teams, but has the best overall G5 record vs P5 and doesn't have a losing record against all of FBS. Focus on our programs - Go NINERS!

Don't you just love videos like that? Team A is kicking the crap out of team B and, in the end, it is 35-28. Feh...

I hope that FCS loss is okay as long as we keep beating P5 opponents.

East Carolina 35 – Virginia Tech 28
Memphis 55 – Kansas 23
Temple 27 – Penn State 10
Houston 34 – Louisville 31

And as long as we understand these are crappy P-5 teams this season and that doesn't matter, then don't belittle CUSA programs when we beat crappy AAC teams.

We're good here.

I'd call scheduling beatable P5 teams smart...ask rice if being bent over by Baylor really helps them.

Penn State only loss of the season was Temple. VA Tech is usually no easy win either. Kansas would be a middle of the pack c-Usa team at best. Every G5 should be trying to schedule them. In reality as long as you have 1-3 good teams in your conference that has a shot at an access bowl, that is all you need. Boise State has made a living beating up weaker mwc teams. Nobody will pay attention that SMU or UCF lost to a fcs team if we are not relevant during the season anyway. UCF is god awful right now though.

Man do I miss those guys!

While I'm sure the 1-AA school enjoyed SMU's "peewee football like atmosphere" that loss isn't as hilarious nor anywhere near as pleasing as UCF losing to a 1-AA.

Yes and Marshall would still jump ship in a second if invited to the AAC. AAC doing this year what most expected it would, have 4 or 5 teams in the mix for Access Bowl and be the best G5 conf.

AAC is plastered all over ESPN channels on Saturday, plus CBS loves Navy. The AAC has a very bright future. If ECU was still in CUSA,I would probably be hoping for the AAC to fail as well.

Tough year for CUSA. Hope your teams bounce back in what is a crucial year for the conference in terms of perception and TV contract money.
