Attendance numbers are disappointing, for sure. Would have expected more after the SDSU win and the weather we had. Add in Alabama playing ULM and Auburn playing like crap, this was a game we should of had big numbers. Not sure how long we can blame it on being a new program and still building a tradition of going to South games, but we have got to get our numbers up to 25k to warrant an OCS.

I agree ya'll are in a tough spot in that state, just too many generations cheering for the same two football programs regardless of where they actually go to school. You guys certainly have your work cut out for you, winning changes most everything. I feel like one of the two schools would have to basically be given the death penalty because all the school administrators were Muslim terrorists in hiding, even then you still wouldn't be guaranteed any extra fans in that state.

If the wheels come off at Auburn, and we drive around behind them and pick up those wheels, we may have a chance. When Alabama declines again, because it will happen eventually, we should be able to pick up more fans. We just happen to be in a time in history that Alabama and Auburn have been on highs and take turns competing for National Championships.

RE: USA vs. NC State game thread
Big name does not equal big game. Our big game, and win, was SDSU, that was the game that we were not suppose to win but we did. Yes, it would have been huge for us to win at Nebraska or against NCstate, but those are currently just not attainable for us this early in our existence.

But if Auburn falls, and when Alabama falls, recruits will get better, even if only a couple a year, it will get better and we will start competing with the "Big Schools" better.

Until then, we will just need to win the conference and be happy with that.

That's really not how it works if Alabama or Auburn are down those recruits would just go to other regional P 5 conference schools. You may get 1 or 2 better recruits but those kids were just going to be bench warmers at auburn and alabama. believe me I have followed recruiting for the better part of 15 years and when UGA and Georgia Tech are down those kids normally go to other P 5 schools in the area.

RE: USA vs. NC State game thread
A few points

1) The USA football thing was always going to be a long term sales process. It doesn't help that we're getting blown out in our big home games. We have no history of attending USA football (unlike App or Ga Southern). We are a newer school and have fewer alumni. Our fans are used to SEC caliber teams. Our school doesn't play games with attendance either. Our facilities are decidedly inconvenient and substandard.

2) We're still viable and our numbers are honest. We have a core of 30,000 fans (about half of whom show up at any given home game). We need to get the 1 or 2 game a year fan to go to 6 home games. Its doable. We will get there. Its just not going to happen overnight.

3) There's a lot of low hanging fruit with regards to attendance.

---

Regarding the game. I'm disappointed, but the season isn't over. We're 2-2 and just need a 4-4 conference finish to get bowl eligible. Our season isn't over and quite frankly, we're in a better position than many in the Belt. Beat Troy and much will be fixed.

My honest guess was right at 20K, if the stadium seats 30,000. Very fun and active tailgate area.

I think we are one of the few teams left that don't "fabricate" attendance numbers. That stadium holds around 40k. We definately had the 21k reported attendance in the seats when the game started. Now, after halftime, that's a different story.

USA does NOT cook the books with attendance. We are one of the FEW schools who ONLY count tickets scanned. Many of us are convinced we UNDER count if anything.

Ladd-Peebles Stadium is the 2nd largest stadium in the SBC with 40,000+ seats. About 7,000 of those are blocked off with tarps for USA and high school games. When Miss. State went to Mobile last year there were well over 38,000 in attendance and the staff removed the tarps due to heavy ticket sales. It would be good if you knew what the hell you were posting rather attempting to be so savvy about other schools. I like it though that you are desperate enough to falsely accuse USA of fabricating attendance. That means you are aware of the Jags being a threat to Troy. Thank you.

That's funny that you say that because most of your fans don't think Troy is a threat at all.

All off-season I heard how you guys were "light-years ahead of Troy as a program" and how you were going to "lock up the 3-Star recruiting game" now that UAB's out of the picture. Even though we are ahead of you on 247. One guy on your board said "how quickly things have changed" when he saw that we were favored today as if your 27-13 win, and only win over Troy, made you Gods among peasants. Things have changed, just not in the way you guys hoped. We are righting the ship. Whether that leads to a win this weekend, who knows, but I know for sure that Troy isn't just going to go away.

Once again, thank you for your support of Jags Jungle.

What I meant by the comment you saw on our page was that we were a high favorite last year and you guys were struggling. Now you are the favorite to win the game and we are struggling. Not many USA fans think this will be an easy game, nor should we. We are a bad football team right now, and Troy is a less bad football team. We have a ton of injuries and you guys have 2 weeks to prepare.

Troy is ranked ahead of South on 247 yes, it's only September. Don't get too excited and reward Troy a national championship yet.

And yes, we beat you guys once so far. I remember many Troy fans saying we never would, and that this would never be a rivalry. Once again, my how things have changed.

Don't make me laugh because the pain of yesterday's beatdown by NCSU still lingers. It's not that Jag fans don't think TU is a threat, it's just that any team in the SBC is a threat. All Belt teams can be beaten by any of the top eight teams.

Plenty of fans of other schools read our board and vice versa. It's not a shocking revelation.

I was unaware of your injury situation. That doesn't make it less tough for Troy to get a "W". What's the injury list look like?

I don't expect Troy to actually beat South in recruiting this year, though it could happen. My comment was referencing those fans who feel as though a resurgent Troy is somehow equal to a non-existant UAB, and no one good is ever going to want to play football for Troy. South is the obvious choice... blah blah blah...

The ACC has little cache in the state of Alabama, aside from Florida State (which is closer to Mobile than some parts of Alabama), and possibly Miami and Georgia Tech. Both Alabama and Auburn no longer play Georgia Tech regularly, and Miami of course has been down for a while. NC State has virtually no history with any program in the state of Alabama.

Every fanbase has delusional fans. We have some hinting at firing Coach Jones for losing to NCSU and Nebraska. Some think we should compete with Alabama and Auburn in recruiting. Troy's new coaches are doing a great job recruiting, I wouldn't be surprised to see them near the top of the SBC again.

We have been without our 3 pass rushers and recently lost a DT for the season, and it has hurt us bad. We're hoping to get 2 of those back this week. We are also without our staring S and our punter who also handles kickoffs also went out for the year against Nebraska. Our defense has been hit pretty hard this year so far.

And I have no problem with people viewing our site, I view most other sites regularly myself, including Troy's. I just think it's funny that you take information from a biased fan message board and post it here, or on twiter (as some of your other fans do). There is a reason we don't post some things here, I prefer to keep things civil and discuss the Sun Belt conference on here, not trash talk (too much).
