This wasn't some sort of fluke game. SMU could not stop JMU's offense.

Invite us. We draw more than SMU, and hate being stuck in FCS.

Our idiot admin so far has turned down CUSA and the SBC. MAC wanted us if UMass stuck around.

That's absurd. You need to get rid of them. Given your performance and athletic budget, you should be an FBS school.

We hired a JMU coach one time named Rip Scherer.

Better than Nova... But we don't do start-ups (again.. See Nova). Good quarterback you have. I still don't understand your turning down CUSA and/or Sunbelt.

If you were already fbs, you'd have a better chance at rapid promotion.

Vad Lee!! I saw JMU two weeks ago against Lehigh, they are flat out awesome on offense!! I thought JMU had a shot in this game because of their offense. I did not think they would stop SMU enough to win.

I love both FCS and FBS football, I just got home from Princeton-Lehigh. You will lose to elite FCS teams if you're not careful. These teams are flat-out legit. Coach Withers has built on what Mickey Matthews started in Harrisonburg. The Dukes have big time athletes by FCS standards. Lee along with several other key players are FBS transfers.

The fans know you are right. Our new president is a Swarthmore/Harvard geek who thinks we should align with small private schools.

He stepped on his Johnson earlier this week, and he may be a short timer now. The MAC seems to be our desired home.

Agree, SMU hasn't stopped anyone's offense.

Agh.....avoid the MAC if possible.

Here is a fairly accepted perception of the MAC.......

The level of play is severely underrated, it's a tough, tough place to play but you get almost no credit if you do well. You get stuck in a conference with what looks like expanded high school stadiums with 15K people in the stands. It's just no place for a southern university wanting to play like programs to be.

That is probably accurate, but we have an academic snob in control. He likes Miami and the MAC.

Clearly the AAC would be best, but that's a total pipe dream. We need to be FBS and have success and average 30k first. But our admin thinks we have a shot..... Like I said, idiots.

JMU2004

I think the MAC would be a great landing spot for you guys if FBS is ultimately in the cards. While JMU has a great team this year it's a program that's in a tough spot. When I was there two weeks ago Virginia was playing ND 60 miles away and VTech had Furman in Blacksburg about 90 miles down 81. That's a lot of competition in an area that does not have a lot of residents. There's also a lot of WVU fans the closer you get to Winchester.

While JMU is a beautiful school located in a great college town, it feels "small". Especially relative to the bigger state schools in the MWC and AAC. At least in the MAC you would similar schools in Miami(OH) and Ohio.

The stadium is nice but still a bit awkward with the old "away" side. Having traveled around it does not compare to say Washington-Griz or Princeton Stadium at the FCS level.

You missed when we sold out 25k 4 years ago and our momentum. Our admin has killed what we had. A ton of fans/donors talked by walking as our admin passed on FBS.

We're not a small school., and feel is relative. Most us feel that FBS is out next natural step. We just need leadership.
