Gents,

We all know that Banowsky wants to go to 16, and for good reason. It makes for a more compact geography and even divisions at 8 a piece (or 4 pods at 4 a piece). The money is not that much different and it may even help upcoming television negotiations.

That being said, both JMU and Texas State (who is playing Houston) would provide CUSA with good brand names in the heart of each division.

JMU has been waiting for this opportunity. They are ready facilties wise.
Texas State really puts our stamp on Texas (a HUGE state). I think they'd also lock in Rice and UTEP by giving them the best fit for a conference than either of those universities can ever expect to have again. No, its not the SWC but its the next best thing. Both their Presidents recognize that being in a conference with their other Texas peer Universities is what's best for business. Hell, look at Rice's schedule (and note how Texas centric it is).

Both of the above universities are sleeping giants that just need this opportunity.

Now is the time (before GORs agreements in the P5 expire and the dominos start falling again). The MWC is down (look at their record this year). Let's lock the door on Texas so they never even think about trying to get in here.

No thank you.

Preference being

1) No expansion
2) No expansion
3) 2 out of South Alabama, Ohio, ULL, Georgia State(only if they get the stadium figured out and show signs of life in football between now and invites going out)

No. It would create an odd number of crossover games and JMU has stated that they are not providing COA.

One win over an AAC team doesn't change the fact that JMU admin just dropped the spaghetti on COA

No, this confrence is already loaded down with teams I don't ever care to play against. Don't need to add another to take up space on our jank schedule.

Ditto! SMU will be allowed to return but only if they can defeat the James Madison juggernaut! 03-lmfao Now, there is some real pressure for you Mustangs. Seriously, since CUSA is all about TV markets (i.e. Dallas),; we are going to do whatever brings in the CASH!

I stopped reading at the first sentence here, because it's wrong on a number of levels.

First and foremost, Banowsky at one time wanted 16. That is no longer the case. If this league wanted 16 they could have already done it.

Second, he serves at the pleasure of the Presidents and they all have come to consensus no further expansion is warranted. Plus he's leaving. He will be making no major movements. The TV deal is his last act.

Third to address the "good reason" part of your first sentence lacks awareness on the most pertinent issues. It is a terrible idea to further expand. Any further expansion will erode the per team revenue (which is why the Presidents are in agreement). There isn't anyone that can be added that's going to raise league-wide revenues sufficiently to offset the further division of said revenues.

Lastly, who gives a rats ass if JMU beats SMU. One game will not a program make. I could care less what either one of them do. That game has absolutely no bearing on this conferece -- AT ALL.

Some people need to actually know what they are talking about.

What JMU would do is greatly improve the academic profile of CUSA.

They have the academic profile similar to Virginia Tech.

And no one aside from the Rice folk value academics as much as I do.

All those smarts and they don't realize they aren't too good for the Sun Belt and botched the COA.
