RE: Game Day: Army
Army has lost their last 8 MAC road games, including 48-38 at Rynearson in 2012...EMU can ill afford to squander another victory. The coaching has to be sharper, they've let the players down twice so far. EMU wins IF Vann and Jackson get their DESERVED carries. I think they will. EMU 35 Army 21.

Dear Bob,
I agree with your prediction. I think Eastern can run against Army, just as they will attempt to do to us. Eastern can also pass the ball, and that could also be a determining factor.

The question is:

Will EMU run to set up the pass OR do like in the WYO game, use the pass to set up the run?

The problem, of course, is if the first option, running or passing, doesn't work then the 2nd option will be defended against.

I assume CC has determined what he thinks the Army weakest point, run defense or pass defense, and will attack the weakest point first.

I need to look at some stats...

Steve and Ken, I absolutely believe that EMU needs to run to set up the pass. Roback doesn't need to win the game, just don't lose it. I see Roback as an Alex Smith type game manager, when he's asked to do too much, he struggles. We've got the horses to move the ball and some decent receivers to catch it when needed.

Bob and Ken:

I disagree with Bob. I looked at the stats, and yes they are tough to figure, but from what I saw, I think this will be a repeat of the WYO game.

Unless I was not able to see the flow of the game, it appears that opponents try to pass against Army.

Roback will try a bunch of short passes to open up the running game. Just needs a bunch of 5 or 6 or 7 yard hitch passes. That will open the middle up for Jackson.

I know that sounds counterintuitive, but games are like that: pick door A or pick door B. Running to set up the pass is always "Door A".

I'm watching BG @ Purdue. Matt Johnson is using the pass to set up the run in a hurry up offense.

Is that what we'll see tonight with Roback???

How well the O-line plays will be the determining factor in how successful Roback is today and the defensive secondary will have to stop the bleeding.

With all due respect, Brogan Roback is no Matt Johnson and Chris Creighton is no Dino Babers, in terms of offensive minds. Keep it simple or suffer the consequences.

Game Day: Army
EMU has enough talent on offense to do what they need to do. I prefer a great ground attack. Always something more satisfying about that.

The real concern is the defense. Army's strength is EMU's weakness. If EMU keeps them under 30 then EMU wins.

Open letter to Heather Lyke: Can you get us at least 30 minutes for a pregame show? That is not asking too much, 10 minutes is a joke. Nothing gets me less pumped up for EMU football than listening to old fogey hillbilly music on WEMU prior to kickoff.

Okay, since EMU can't tackle my mother, we need to shorten the game and pound the rock. I wanna see a steady diet of Darius Jackson and Shaq Vann. I don't trust Roback to do anything but hand off.

EMU has taken a step back tonight. Getting blown out at home by a bad Army team isn’t a good look.

RE: Game Day: Army
Brad McCaslin should be fired after this game. He is the worst defensive coach in all of football.
