He could be toast either way, if bearcats#1's assessment of his job security was accurate.

RE: Why Was Kiel Playing?
Do not think he had a concussion in either game. I think it was a neck injury both time and the severity is such that he may never play again. One of the reports said he had numbness in his extremities. Which would tend to support a spinal injury.

That would even be more disturbing.

Or nerve damage, it's all about nerves when it comes to numbness first & foremost....spine could also have damage....albeit either slight or not - likely as Gunner had movement/activity in all extremities

Fuzzy and he got his bell rung...was the description after the first injury, till it was changed. Those words sound more like the description for a head injury.

But here is the link to the video for the first injury if y'alll want to make a diagnose. lol

RE: Why Was Kiel Playing?
Last night, he was knocked totally unconcious. He went completely limp. I would think that would be brain-related like a concussion, with maybe some spinal/nerve injury, too.

No. Tuberville will hide behind the "team doctor" on this one. Maybe get rid of that guy or go outside the 'team' for medical decisions like this one and remove any doubt about undue pressure or biased opinion. Seemed like such a bad call considering Kiel's prior and very recent injuries.

Hide behind the guy who knows more about it than anyone else? Amazing perspective.

You should read/listen and understand before you comment. The injury suffered by Keil last night had nothing to do with a concussion/brain injury or what every you described as his previous injury. When you understand that, you will not continue to look like you know nothing about what you are talking about.

Were you at the game? Did you see him grab his head and then seem to go unconscious and drop his arms to his side, and not move a muscle for minutes? That's a concussion. Now, if you are so paralyzed by a neck/nerve injury that your whole body is unable to move, even for a short time, I doubt you go to the hospital and then fly home with your team later.

he shouldn't have been out there. cincy fans should be taking tuberville to task for it.

No, he was playing because he was the best option to save TUBBY's job.

Tubby is a JERK.

What he did is criminal.

I hope he gets fired.

I hated to see him go down like that because I felt sure he should not even be on the field.

Where are this kid's parents? I know he may not be a minor, but no parent should counsel their child to play this soon after any kind of head injuries.

I would bet my life none of the world-class docs we have here in Memphis at Semmes-Murphy Clinic would ever counsel this kid to play football last night.

My brother had several concussions playing football in the 1970's. It didn't do him a lot of good.

Kiel shouldn't have been on the field, I'm surprised this isn't a bigger story yet...

I expect the AD will have a serious discussion with Tuberville today. Don't be surprised if the university president is also involved.

I'm sure DR's cleared him to play and I'm sure the AD cleared it based on what the DR's reported. But make sure to blame the coach.

There are doctors and then there are doctors. And anyway, why are you so sure of all that? You sound a bit naive, or defensive, and I am wondering why. The buck stops with his coach, regardless.

Mike Utley's upper vertebrae was broken, and he was able to give a thumbs up as they took him off the field. Kiel didn't even move; he was out on contact.

Not true, he was never out, he moved his arms after the hit. He got a whip lash or 'stinger'. The hit was shoulder to shoulder. Good clean hit on a 'running back'.

OMG. Look at the darn video again. He raised one hand up to his head, and then immediately both hands fell limp to his sides. His legs never moved. And 3 trainers were on him, trying to get a response. They were raising their voice at him 3 inches from his face. I have seen lots of stingers; I never saw anyone act like that with one.

When Kiel went down....well... no words can describe the motionless sight of his body on the field.

Yes. It was horrible. At that point, I feared for his life. And I hope Chauncey realizes this is not his fault at all.

Trust me, like Caligula, for Tubby, it's all about Tubby.

I'm in agreement with those that say Tubby should not have had Gunner suit up - and it's not like the back-up wasn't up to the job!
