With the exception of the final play, they played tremendously.
Speaking of which, wtf was he thinking on that last play? I don't want diminish anything else he did, but...
Inexperience and wanting to make something happen. A more seasoned guy would have taken sack and quick timeout.

Agreed. And the first pick the DB just made a spectacular play. Let's not forget Kiel had a pick 6 early in the game that was pretty bad. I certainly wouldn't have advocated for Moore over Kiel especially after what we saw last week from him. It was just enough for him to get the jitters out I guess. It's amazing to think he had 4 turnovers in the 4th qtr against a terrible Miami team. Fast forward 5 days later and he sets an all time UC passing record in 3 quarters worth of action. Has to be unprecedented.
I saw a couple of flashes in the Cry-ami game. His timing was off in that game, as well as what looked like some jitters. I wanted to see how he would perform after receiving practice time with the 1st unit. Last night my questions were answered.

True, but even that play normally doesn't end that way under those circumstances. He had good awareness of where a receiver was (or dumb luck perhaps) and it actually hit the receiver in the hands (not that it was realistically catchable). A little softer or lower and it is probably caught. If the deflection goes down or to the right or left it's an incompletion and we save a timeout. In this case it went up and right to a defender instead. I'll refrain from calling it UC (bad) luck and just say that's football...

RE: Hayden Moore
By most informed accounts, Moore actually outplayed Gunner in preseason camp. I do think Gunner was the right call, just for experience. Now, UC can afford to rest and heal Gunner. When Gunner is healthy, the decision between him and Hayden will be a good problem to have.
By the way, IMO saying Moore's last interception cost us the game is a little harsh. There was about 5 seconds left, so all it cost us was one last, and probably low-percentage at that, shot at the end zone. Gunner's pick-six hurt us more than that one, IMO. And neither hurt us as bad as our ongoing ability to completely stink it up in the red zone, and settle for FG after FG (except for the ones that get blocked )
And, yes, the defense... I originally didn't mention that because it was far too obvious.

I'll second this and add that if the UC receiver who initially touches the ball manages to hold on instead of tiping it into the air, that play might have resulted in a TD.

The back (Tion/Hosey? forget which) had sprung out to be a check down..he's was coming back to Moore for the pass. It just had too much mustard on it and bounced off him straight to the Memphis kid. A completion would have been just as bad since the clock would have kept running, but I get trying to make things happen.

RE: Hayden Moore
I thought he played strikingly well in light of Cincy's inability to run the ball at all. You had a 3rd and 3 around Memphis' 15 and got a false start penalty. I thought at the time that it actually improved your chances of getting a first down.
