The answer to that question is my question....

How does there exist an angle the was never shown in the over 15 minutes they spent on it for the broadcast or in the remainder of the game?

It wasnt just brought up in that moment. Again not saying he wasn't down it just takes irrefutable evidence to overturn a call on the field.

I find it extremely unbelievable that ESPN would not play that angle.

Oh well good luck till you play us!

04-cheers

And apparently the refs had that evidence, because the ruling on the field was overturned........it's FB, let it go. Your team will have the opportunity to prove their worth soon enough. Yet's see how that turns out when we don't have 6 TOs.

I agree that was a bad call (not as blatant but I think it should've been Memphis ball), but there is a little bit of a difference between a call early in the game and a game-deciding call with 2 minutes left.

Why? We score there and we could have already been up 7 with Cincy getting our fumble to try to tie it. Both calls were huge. Can't pinpoint the one at the end, without thinking about the earlier one.

And I disagree. Your fumble was clearly out. It wasn't even close. All we had to do was literally pick it up off the ground, unchallenged.

Oh I'm not losing any sleep over this.

Still haven't seen an explanation how this mysterious angle hasn't surfaced and wasn't broadcast by the network providing the coverage in the first place.

Can't wait till we play you guys this year. I hope you win out till we play so it is a quality win for us and one to build on going forward.

Good luck till then..... 04-cheers

The knee is down there but you cant see it because it is obscured by the foot. It quickly bounced off the ground.

The view showed in the stadium was better.

But if you can't see it, how do you know it was down?? I was under the impression that the ref's saw the same replays as we do since ESPN (in this case) provided the shots.

Obviously the scoreboard operators have access to the feed to show replays as well because they showed a different view...THAT is how I know the knee was down. If they zoomed into the view that was shown for the live play you would be able to see the knee down. Since I didn't dvr the game since it was on ESPN3 I cant really get a high enough quality look from the live view.

There are a ton of cameras on the field watching the play and they only showed 1 angle.

Yeah, apparently ESPN didn't show the view that was shown on the jumbotron.

It's obvious that the new targeting penalty is confusing and difficult to call on the field. I think that's why they call it and let replay see if it stands or not.

Probably the better thing to do is let the QBs wear red jerseys. You know, to let the defense know not to hit them.

Wait, we're talking about football. Never mind.

To overturn a call on the field the booth has to have clear evidence that call on the field was incorrect. I have to believe that the booth had a video angle not show during the game that led to the call being overturned. If they based this on the same angles shown on TV?...They blew this call horribly.

Actually, no.

There was the Cincy fumble that wasn't called earlier in the game. If it's a fumble it's a fumble. Then there was the Memphis fumble. That was worse because it was called THEN overturned despite evidence that it was the correct call. That's quite a bit worse.

My apologies Memphis fans. I didn't realize there was a super secret mystery camera angle that only Memphis fans and the refs were privy to. Somehow ESPN and it's 7000 cameras didn't have access to the super secret mystery camera angle...which sucks because then everyone would know you are right.

The real problem is that it wasn't 'indisputable' evidence. There's no angle we've seen that clearly shows his knee down before that ball starts to come out. From the angles they showed on ESPN, there wasn't enough evidence to overturn that call indisputably. It was incorrect unless the replay booth had some angle that no one ever saw.

Then again in fairness the same reviewing official gave Cincinnati the ball back on a clear fumble by Cincinnati receiver number 25. That was also a clear fumble that a Memphis player recovered. In other words the AAC needs to stop borrowing CUSA officials.
